I do agree it was a sad day for footbal King Roosey. However, that was 16 years ago...time to move ahead and expand our great code of Aussie Rules so more people have a chance of watching it, a chance of playing of it and a chance to embrace it.

Interesting to see that footage and very sad for the supporters of Fitzroy, however, was time to move on. The club was struggling and in a cut-throat world survival of the fittest prevails. They breathed life into Brisbane and won three flags in a row and this went some way towards establishing a stronger national competition. I still think that transferring a club like South Melbourne into Sydney holus-bolus is a better option than a merger with an existing club ie Fitzroy and Brisbane Bears. Still, a Fitzroy fan might feel some affinity with Brisbane which is something they wouldn't otherwise have had.
