Sydney Swans v Fremantle
SCG
Saturday April 7, 2012
10.35am ? SCG Gates Open
10.35am - Swans reserves v Gold Coast Suns reserves
2.10pm ? Sydney Swans v Fremantle
And I thought 5 minutes to get to our seats in the Noble was bad enough.....
Hope they let the GCS reserves' in in time!!Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light. -
I have the game starting at 10:40 on my wallet fixture card...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Geez don't they realize that we are not as quick as we used to be? How hard can it be for them to open ten mins earlier?I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

Jenny dear, please remind the gate people that the old farts like to reach their seats BEFORE the game starts!!! Don't care if it is "only" a ressie game. To us its important. OK, so its a bit precious I know, but how hard could it be to humour us!If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Emphasis on again Scott.
I argued the case 5 years ago with the club and when Larissa came on this board a few years back I put forward the case again to open the gates a miserable 5 minutes earlier and then again last year with Jenny and again about 6 weeks ago with Jenny. In all cases the answer has been, it's locked in, too late to change (hence the friendly reminder via PM to Jenny earlier this year so our people can talk to their people before it's too late this year)
The frustrating thing is and always has been, is the gate staff are ALWAYS there at the gate at least 10 minutes before gates, just waiting for the 'all clear' on the 2-way radios. It's not a case of having to pay them an extra 5 minutes wages, they are there ready to go anyway.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

Serious question, we're all members- how many signatures do we need to be able to raise an issue at the AGM? I bet we'd get it sorted out pretty quickly if we wasted some of their time there, assuming it's held in Sydney I'd be happy to toddle along with you.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Count me in Stell. (the Swans Constitution is on line so I'd imagine the AGM procedures will be in there)
Failing that I really like Scott's idea...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I just went through the constitution, not the easiest read- not because of the content, but mainly because they've just scanned a copy of the constitution and whacked it up like that!
It looks like we all are entitled to speak at an AGM by simply turning up, I can't see how many members are required to propose a resolution but we only need 5 members to request a poll be taken (which is way more of a pain in the than a basic vote, I believe).
And yes, I appreciate this may all seem a tad over the top for getting the gates open a bit earlier, but Triple B has been banging on about this for years with no success- I don't really expect the club to go right through the issue with all members, what I expect is to be able to voice it in a forum where someone senior enough with the club can go "That's a perfectly reasonable request, and I don't want to waste our time here on it- we'll just fix the issue without a vote etc."I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

It's not being precious at all Primms. What is precious is not opening a lousy 5min earlier so it's members can be in theirs seats for the first bounce. It happens at ANZ as well so it's obviously a directive from the club...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

We sit in Bay Hatley at the SCG, so we pretty much walk in the gate, toddle around this way and that and we're at our seat- even then I'm not sure that we could easily be plonked down if coming in via our regular entrance before the start of the game if only given 5 minutes (and the ground was empty). Let alone toddling over to the other side of the ground.
Footy fans like to see the start of the game, they're funny like that. The insanity that makes us turn up on a night when it's bucketing down and sit there covered in a sheet of plastic so the seniors have a crowd cheering them on is the same insanity that makes reserves watchers want to be there for the first bounce. You can't rely on it on one hand then give it indifference on the other.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
