Anybody tried the AFL live app?

$10 per month and you get to see every Swans game.

Not sure if that gets you every game, or if you need a Foxtel subscription to get every game, and if you don't have Foxtel, you only get one game per round.
Everywhere I've looked seems pretty vague, but I'd be prepared to pay that to see every Swans game at least.
Even the Telstra shop guy was pretty confused today.

Not sure whether you need an internet connection to see the games, and it comes out of your monthly data allowance, or if it comes through the 3G network

Have a look here CTS: http://www.telstra.com.au/latest_offers/afllive/

It does indeed seem that for $10 a month you can watch every game on your phone, as long as you are on a Telstra Next G plan and have a 4G-compatible phone/tablet. Sounds cool, but I suspect you'd want to live in an area with a great mobile signal, otherwise the video buffering and drop-outs will drive you nuts.

I had a look into all the ways to get the games on Fox without signing up for a contract and getting a dish (which is impractical where I live). This article was a good starting point: Caught in a footy stream without a paddle.

In the end I opted for Foxtel on XBox 360, which streams the games live via internet. This costs $30 a month (base channels and sports), plus a one-off $100 'season pass' for 7 months of Fox Footy channel. Plus, if you're not on an uncapped plan, any streamed data over your internet cap. Plus -- as I only found out after signing up -- $79 for a yearly subscription to XBox Live Gold, which is an Xbox social-network thing. Plus the cost on a XBox 360, if you don't already have one.

Whichever way you go it could end up being costly, and potentially full of hidden charges. Proceed with caution!

      Thanks.
I just tried the phone munber on that link (which you would assume is going to provide info about that specific promotion) however again it went through to an American sounding Indian who didn't know what the promotin was.
So I guess it's back to the Telstra shop again.
Yesterday they guy I spoke to have little idea as well....
I'll post back if I am able to get more info (I like to read the fine print - especially with Telstra)

      You said the 'X' word.
This is my sanctuary from ann things beginning with X, W and P lol
MY kids are always on those damn things with the volume double what it should be.....
Doubt I would get a chance to use it myself

$10/month or $50/season (which saves you $10 since the season is about 6 months). You can also trial the first month for free to see if it satisfies you. What you do need is a Telstra mobile account, it can be post-paid or pre-paid and the best part is watching games does not count towards your download quota.

I watched 5 games on the weekend, only one on the TV and the rest on my Android tablet or iPhone. On the phone the resolution is okay because the screen is small but when watching on the tablet the resolution is pretty grainy and it's hard to make out which players are which exactly.

Watched several AFL games driving between Melbourne and Sydney last week. Was not driving. With Bluetooth had audio on the car radio. Worked a treat.

                Yep.
Can only use on the 3G network, you have to turn of wifi.
The third Telstra person today was able to help me (he had the app & card)
Explained it all. Cool. Bought it.
Got home, keyed in the pin. "incorrect"
                It wasn't
The number to call on the back of the card for problems?

Yep, AGAIN I got a Phillipino American sounding 'assistant' who didn't even know what AFL was.
After 20 minutes on hold, I hung up and rung back.
Now here's the tip - when the automated voice starts, say "supervisor" over and over.
Got an Aussie (who also sisn't know anything about the app)
I may have an issue because I have a business account.
Will find out more when I revisit telstra shop tomorrow...

I tried to get the link to work and was ok about paying to see games that had been played but it kept telling me I wasn't in Australia.really, I Maybe I am an O/S supporter, I never knew always thought I was here in Sydney but maybe I am in my own mind! Therefore I am somewhere else entirely! I am writing a piece for my course that entirely matches this scenario! Am I in transference? Or are there really gremlins out there that believe I am in another country, the Kremlin maybe?

Well, after a revisit to the Telstra shop, and then numerous calls to over 5 different departments and a total of over an hour on the phone, I finally ended up in the faults department.
There is a fault with the cards.
They were unable to offer me any advice as to when this might be resolved, and could not let me know any otehr way, so I'll ring again next week, and if it's not fixed, I'll be looking for a refund.
                        Sucks.
The most frustrating thing was that the vast majority of people at telstra not only don't know their products, but don't even know what the AFL is...

I can watch the highlights package, but the full games won't work because I have a wifi tablet.

Well, the noral to my story is to not ring Telstra (ever) about an AFL Live card
After over 2 hours being directed and redirected to over 5 or 6 different departments, I beame aware the 80% of people I was speaking to did not know what AFL was.
Most thought I was trying to say ADSL.
Of those who did know what it was, none knew of the card.

In between phone calls I returned to teh Telstra shop, and they tried a different card.
Also could not get the code to enter.
I was given a phone number and told to ring it and have it manually entered by that person.
Rung the number - same deal

Anyway, a couple of days later I tried teh Telstra shop again, and waited for 30 mins for the guy who originally served me as he described himself as the "AFL guy"

Turns out he wasn't quite "that guy" as he had originally bypassed the stage in having the card verified on their computer which made the code valid.
Now it SEEMS to be working - will report back after this weekend.

It's a great deal - a shame that abosolutely no one knows anything about it.....

You just have to wait 12 hours. I watched the swans Freo game on Monday night this way.
