I wouldn't be surprised to see them leave Seaby in and alternate with Mummy down forward. May be a good opportunity to see how they structure up like that and if Seaby finds a rich vein of form, LRT can slot back into the backline when he is ready to resume....

My brother is a Port supporter and he was very aware last weeks win was one out of the box for a young developing team. They came right down to earth against Essendon who had 31 to 21 scoring shots. I think Essendon are also a work in progress as well and had 3 injuries on the day and Port still couldn't capitalise on it. Why not take the opportunity against a young side to try a couple of players and rest a few experienced players. All I am saying is we should beat this mob even if we change 4 or 5 players. To try 1 or 2 would be a good thing to blood a few younger boys like Lamb even though his game last week wasn't that great. Maybe Nipper again. Just to give them a sniff and keep them keen. We did this last year when a few of the older players had some niggles and it was ok.Comment

White or Seaby to come in for the injured LRT, or White and Seaby if Mummy doesn't come good. The best 22 should play, as always, the players need to get match hardened again, match fit. The more they play now the better they will be later in the year, and later is when it counts as we have a much harder second half of the drawYou can't argue with a sick mind - Joe WalshComment

Agree. Play someone with a bit of form around him.Comment

I don't think you should even consider resting players until you are finals bound even secured a spot in the top 4. Only two changes mumford for seaby and LRT for white for really one of his last chances to impress. I would love to see a tony armstrong come in and play back and aj to go forward, aj could add some more potency up front while armstrong creates some rebound off hb(although aj was really good this week with his run and spread).
Can't wait for tommy mitchell to come back from injuries i reckon he will have a few games in the ressies and be fast tracked into the senior team.Comment

resting players must happen. it just has too. roos pushed the players too hard too often and there was resulting burn-out. longmire is continuing this, why? look at geelong last year. rotate players when they are down on form/fitness. nearly half the people on this thread have questioned shaw and okeefes spot, i havent seen the game so i cant comment, but if there is a doubt about them, why take the risk.. keep players fresh by rotating them in and out, it also builds their experience and means if you get a bad run of injuries in the tale end, your younger players have more experience than they otherwise would.Comment

Poor Lewie, how frustrating for him. A fractured cheek bone is probably painful but at least it is not groin or hamstrings keeping him out.
Resting players sounds good in theory or a perfect world but at the moment ROK is the only one who might be better off having a 'rest' in the reserves and who would take his place? AFL.com has C. Heath, T. Walsh, J. Moore and two of the toppies as best players for the reserves on Sat. So going by form it should be either Heath or Walsh!
Mummy is a bit of a concern. Hopefully the back is just a niggle. He is the one I would be resting if there is the slightest doubt, for we definitelly need him fit and well at the end of the season.Comment

So after playing one game in two weeks, you think we should rest four or five and bring young ones in against a team that had a very good victory last week, playing at their home ground?
I look forward to reading this site if that's what we did, resulting in a loss. The yells and screams for Longmires head would resound around the country!
Surely if there were players that needed resting LATER in the season, games against the Suns and Giants would be the ones to do it.Comment

Only a few days ago you were critisising Longmire for playing guys who aren't match fit and saying he's making the same mistakes as last season, and now you want him to rest guys who deserve a game because we should just beat Port Adelaide (in Adelaide) anyway? Worst suggestion of the year by far.
I say bring Nipper and TDL in for Shaw and ROK so they can get match fit. Seaby stays and maybe Tommy or White for LRT while injured. If Mummy doesn't play both White and Walsh.Comment
