    I actually thought this might create a little bit of discussion. Obviously not.

      No offense, but I haven't commented because I have no idea what this is about and is far too complicated for the average user to understand. Also I would think that most users on this site are more Swans fans than AFL fans and may have less knowledge about other teams and players compared to their Swans knowledge. That's how I feel anyways.
      Plus you rate the players, and then what? Prizes handed out? What's in it for me? Don't mean to be a downer but it's how I feel as a user.

        I thought I had it explained quite thoroughly. What is it you don't understand? I'll try again.

        I know full well this is a Swans' site. I am at least as a big a Swans' fan as anybody on here, don't worry about that. Hence why I add the Swans' player rankings list on the base of each Top 10.

        What's in it for you? A discussion point - what do people think of the rankings? Do you think they are accurate? Do you think somebody should be placed higher? Lower?

        The new rankings that will come out in the next week will be ladders, based on:
        1) how each team has fared against every opponent the last time they played them home and away - surprisingly, I had to go back as far as 2008 to find some results!;
        2) how each team has fared in the past 12 months, back to the corresponding round in 2011;
        3) how each team has fared in the past five years, back to the corresponding round in 2007;
        4) how each team has fared in the past 10 years, back to the corresponding round in 2002.
        "It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

            I actually really enjoy reading BeeEmmAre's list, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one on here that does. The thread is generally just the mad scientist's postings because that's kinda the point of it- if it wasn't to be in this format I'd like to see it as a RWO blog, but I definitely want the content.

            The rating logic is pretty straightforward and sound, and to me it provides an amalgamation of sources that I may otherwise have to research myself. I really appreciate the work that goes into it, and I definitely wait each round to see the next update. I'm always amazed at how good the list is- if I look at the top 10 right now I do think that I see 10 players that are pretty much closed to the best in the league.
            I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
            We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

                2012 All Named Top 50 Round 13

                Points are recorded from the best player lists from five different media sources ? the AFL website, The Age (Fairfax), Sportal, Dream Team and Super Coach lists. The Herald Sun (News Ltd) no longer names best players, and has been officially replaced. If any outlet is missing best players, they will be taken from bigfootynews.com.au. If named best in each media outlet, a player can potentially score 50 points per week. It doesn?t take results into account.

                  This weekend was the first full game of Melbourne I've watched all year, I was really impressed with Nathan Jones- going by where he's sitting in the rankings he's obviously been playing really well for them all year.
                  I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
                  We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

                    I noted in the Weekend HS, that Jetta leads the way for the swans in both Goals and Votes, even though he missed out this week.
                    Obviously not as much love for him in the other media.

                      Unfortunately, the Herald Sun no longer lists best players, just gives 5,4,3,2,1. I've left them out of this process as a result. There's just not enough players there to count them.
