    Teddy's Disposal

Teddy has the best disposal % in the team. He got 100 in round one, 81.82 in round two and 100 in round three. Good on you Teddy! He is the most improved player at the Swans by a country mile and I am so happy for him that he is playing so well. But those are really great stats.

He's an amazing story is our Ted. His career looked dead and buried a few years back but he reinvented himself to be one of our most important players.

    Well done Ted!

Yes I love his guts and he puts in every week. I love how steady under pressure he has become and he is a good example to the young blokes. It has rubbed off because last year a few of them were rushed under pressure and this year they are as cool as cucumbers, just like Ted.

Maybe because he went from just a utility backman and then the retirement of bolts opened up that KP which Ted knew he could always play. The security of being in the first 22 each week has allowed him to focus on his weekly match up.

He has been fantastic in the last 18 months.

Him and Grundy have been very solid so far for us down back. There form is pretty crucial to our chances this year I feel, keep it up boys. Grundys disposal was good last week too. Interesting to note Mike Sheahan on the couch said he feels we are a key back men short of challenging for a top 4 side ( or words to this effect). I wouldn't have thought so myself with those two down tree and LRT to come back too ( still a very good defender despite his new roles of late).

Yeah Grundy has been coping it for his disposal by foot but he has been solid this year. Throw Smith and a rapid learner in AJ and we are/have built a nice solid defence.

I used to be very scared with Teddy in the backline. Now, i couldnt be happier. Shows you what confidence does to a player, carn the swannies!
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

lewis hasnt played full time defence for a long while - if there was an injury and he suddenly needed to play on travis cloke, or lance franklin or tom hawkins, he'll need to play a few whole games back there to get comfortable i would think?

grundys kicking is not the issue. he takes a lot of marks from intercepts etc (not that i have stats to back that up) and plays on immediately a lot he needs to start taking the better option is all, kicking to 2 on 2's or some variation you need to be precise, on those fast breakaways he needs to look for a teammate whos gotten free, there wont always be one obviously but yeah. i feel like im stating the obvious a bit sorry.

and ted richards.. i was so harsh on ted a few years ago. but he deserved it. he panicked under pressure, took too long to get rid of the ball and would put teammates under pressure, he couldnt play tall and he couldnt play small, his kicking was atrocious. his marking is so much better now. and his handballing is decisive and nearly always to a player in a good position .

we have these 3^ plus, alex johnson, marty mattner, eski, rhyce shaw, armstrong (maybe), nick smith anddd is that it. so, thats basically too many. if you drop armstrong from it, thats still 8 players. johnson at this stage is behind all of them, unless one of the top 3 is out because then we might need his versatility. but when lrt grundy and richards are fit, mattner can do that small/tall/flanker role.

Yes very happy with Grundy on the weekend. I have been very critical of his disposal but last week he was perfect. A few years ago he was like that every week, I don't know what happened.

I don't agree that we have enough backmen. We have plenty of talls that can play forward but not too many that seem to be putting their hands up to play back. Unless they can get Spang or Tommy back we need to look for a young Tall defender in the next draft. We also need to look for another young ruckman.

Teddy is 29 and LRT is 29 in September so we need to shore up a couple of Talls.

Agree about Grundy, his disposal used to be very good and hopefully he can start to rediscover that. Dont agree about us having more tall forward otpions than tall defensive options though. Aren't we always debating the fact on here that we are devoid of a genuine back up to Reid ? White has yet to prove he's the man, by a long stretch. Im more concerned about our forward line than our backline.

With the way the game is played these days, all of the talls are in the backline when the ball goes down there anyway.

After watching the port game the second or third time, it seemed evident that Ted and Reg play as a unit and combine well together. This only happens after the players have been in the same team for a while. Marty is as courageous as any backman running around, AJ is coming along nicely for a second year player he's very good. I can see the point that Marty and Ted a re getting older, but Ted still plays 100% game time, you can't ask for any more than that, how often do you see our backmen on the bench getting a rest? Maybe Smooch when he's doing a run with job, probably the only 2 players I worry about our backline matchup for are Buddy and Cloke
