I agree the back line players have a cohesion and co-operation that the forward line seems to lack; I would love to see some consistent selections for the forward 6 so that they can AND the midfield can start to work better together.

I was going to disagree with you about this. And I suppose, as a matter of balance, I prefer Johnson as a 3rd tall defender to LRT because I think Alex he can play better on a smaller, faster tall forward than LRT. But that is not to say he is a better player than LRT. After thinking about it, it would be hard to put Alex in front of any of the others. Eski has a bad season last year, but is looking back to his best this season. Some people are saying Shaw is off the pace and maybe that is the case, but I do not think anyone can question that he has been seriously good since he came. When Alex Johnson is arguably your weakest defender, you are in pretty good shape. BTW I think Alex is going to end up better than all, not that I have watched the game for long enough to have any real idea.

And as for Ted, I like him because the way he transformed himself gives me hope that maybe I can stop being such a screw-up---even if the hope is clearly illusory.

Teddy is awesome but like i said in the other thread. I do not want him on Petrie this weekend, last year he booted 4goals on Teddy until we moved Grundy onto him. Could've been a bad day but I'm still worried.

Norf played a much different setup last week with Petrie playing further up the ground and Edwards and the resting ruckman being used out of the goalsquare moreso than Petrie.

It will be interesting to see who goes with who, but I have no concerns about Teddy going onto Petrie. Like most times a leading FF is on fire, it was more about the Norf midfielders hitting Petrie perfectly on the tit than Teddy having a shocker....

The dish needs good service to prosper and can be exploited on the way out (not literally!). Teddy is his perfect match especially on the rebound. Reg on Edwards or Goldstein/Macintosh. We could do with lrt tbh.

The obvious keys are Wells, boomer and swallow. Take their efficiency away and the dish won't be a factor.

I remember a few years back chatting with Teddy (might have been 2009 or perhaps early 2010 - before he really cracked it into the senior team again) when waiting for a late flight back to Canberra. He'd travelled to Melbourne as an emergency and was heading back up to play for the Reserves the next day. I asked him how he was feeling about not getting in the Seniors regularly.... basically he said he was desperate to get his way back in and was working as hard as he could to do so. He wasn't pissed off (if I remember rightly we were struggling badly at the back at the time) at the lack of game time or anything like that - just had his head down trying everything to get back into the team.

He seemed a genuinely nice guy, and I'm so happy with the way his career has finally blossomed. He has truly become our Mr Dependable... just when we needed a new one with the loss of Craig Bolton. Onwards and Upwards with Super Ted!

Spot on... win the midfield battle on Sunday and we will win the match. We need to keep up the excellent pressure across the ground, but especially in midfield that we have generally applied so far this season.
