    right).
Apparently the number 1966 really upsets them!!

I was always a hater of the traditional clubs to hate like Collingwood and Carlton, never really had an opinion on the Saints. That has changed.

It's now over 10 years since I first met DoctorJ in the flesh from the pre RWO days on Des' original board when he was simply Mark the Swan. I've now lost count of how many trips to Melbourne on a Friday morning special, meeting with him and Reggi after they finished work and heading off to the Friday night game before our game on the Sat or Sun. In all those years, the good Doctor has maintained that StKilda fans are the absolute scum of the earth etc etc. After observing these feral bastards over many games, I am now firmly of the opinion that he is correct and that they are the worst....

GWS have done nothing to earn my hatred. I won't even dignify them with rage until they deserve it. Right now, they are being flogged week in, week out, and it's a little sad. One day, all those high draft picks are going to form a very good football team, and the rivalry can begin properly.

I wish them all the best, for the good of the code in this state - however, I still want to belt them by a thousand points every time we play them.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

+1 well put Des just because we wish them well DOES NOT diminish our love or support for the Swans.Got it? Good.

Our first great rivalry was with Geelong.
I really can't understand why no-one seems to mention it anymore, it was only 120 odd years ago.

As a Kid I loathed Carlton & Collingood. The former stole our coach and captain, the latter stole everyone!!!!

Swans was, is, always will be my team. But that doesn't stop me wanting a perpetual underdog to give the Swans a leg up by having boilover wins against other top teams. For this reason, I'll be cheering on GWS against all comers - except the Swans - for as long as they are the league's easy-beats e.g. imagine them surprising WCE with a last minute win, how good would that be?!

I am enjoying watching GWS play on telly and saw the round 1 game live. Reckon they might snag one this year - somewhere - and I will be happy for them (not against us, of course).

My quiet tip is that the GWS experiment will emerge as an expansion master-stroke for the AFL over the medium to long-ish term (20-30 years). There is a lot of people out there and the product is just so good (most of the time).

I too hope that the GWS works out, but for all the talk of long term investment, I fear that when the going get's tough the AFL will get going . . . . . . . . . . . . . out of the west.

Unfortunately the quality of a product is not always a predictor of it's success - there need to be sufficient customers to want the product. It will be interesting to see the outcomes of the AFL's attempts at social engineering the level of demand for AFL of the people of the west....

Some of you should put down your rose coloured glasses and see the reality of what the AFL is really about.
Yep...like the Catholic Church and McDonalds they are into property. It's all about the value of real estate.

My attitude as well. I see them as our little brothers. For now, we wish them all the best against other teams, but reserve the right to utterly kick their butt when we feel like it.

and exposure. Out west they may not be willing to go all the way to teh SCG for a game, but rolling15 mins down the road with the inevitable free tickets might get some souls through the gate. They will need to win a game at some point, lol, maybe come up with a better name, just Wests would have been better, the league community could identify with that, I suppose there might have been an ownership tangle on that one, but really, GWS?
