LONGMIRE. How long does he have to wait.

When are we going to see a few positives on RWO for the coach and what he is acheiving with the side. Pretty hard to get a pat on the back here.

Pat, pat, pat, pat, pat!! Love his work. Love his manner. Seems to have a great perspective on the game, AFL peculiarities, tribunal, etc. - just an all round leader at the club, and clearly the boys are flourishing under his stewardship.

One of the commentators mentioned it yesterday - this is now John Longmire's team, not Roosy's Swans coached by the replacement.

Very true. This was pointed out to me over the weekend and I agree that Longmire is yet to get the credit he deserves. It was nice to see it mentioned after the game that any success the Swans have now can be credited to him and the team is no longer Roos' Swans. Having said that, I still have issues with the forward line and who is selected but while we are winning games and regularly kicking goals I will have to admit that he might have it right and I am just a know-it-all 'expert'.

Here's a positive. As much as I loved Roos as a coach I've already come to the conclusion that Longmire is a better, or maybe I should say more adaptable tactician. He seems more adept at changing the game plan to adapt to the tactics deployed by the opposition. I have more confidence now that we'll see this team under Longmire win a few more come from behind games. So often under Roos we would almost but not quite get there, the 2006 GF being the most memorable example (not that I try to remember it).

I thought last years effort from Longmire was admirable, he had to withstand all the Roos admiration. Dont get me wrong, I loved and admired Paul Roos but I do think we had to move on sooner than now..

Horse has a great team around him which always helps when you're a new senior coach finding your way.

Blakey, Tudor, Playfair, Maxfield and Crouch all know what they're doing. Add Dennis Carroll in the welfare role and it's a pretty impressive team assisting Horse.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Agree. A couple of the tactical moves yesterday were brilliant. Supporters should be confident we have a Coach that knows his stuff. The issue referred to earlier about the forward line is a difficult one for the Selectors. I thinks it's more about the personnel available rather than a selection issue. Maybe there's one or two in the wings, that will run into form. However, we shouldn't under estimate yesterday's performance. Scoring 16 goals against one of the toughest defences in the AFL and playing on a foreign ground is a fair effort.

IMO, immensely. But that's another topic.

                    Good post

I was one of his harshest critics last year but I'm willing to put my hand up and admit that he has turned it around in 2012.

I agree with sydaflfan about a couple of issues e.g. selections and forward line, but we have taken a gigantic leap forward this year and the coach deserves credit

I think I can see in how we're playing now, what he was trying to do last year, but our ball movement and skills have only just caught up.

                      Keep it up, horse!

As was mentioned elsewhere...maybe it was horse doing all the tactic moves and roos was just one motivating the players etc.

Maybe the 2005 flag should be attributed to horse more?

Maybe thats why roos doesnt want to coach elsewhere...

He really is becoming one of the better coaches - tactical moves on Sunday was great - i have been critical in the past and now i am just going to shut up before i get more egg on my face!

If you look at his performance over the entire period we haven't missed a beat and are clearly working our way back up the pecking order in the AFL. That is no mean feat - think of what Richmond, melbourne have had to endure - we are very lucky to have him...
