Also headed out at 3rd quarter time for an impromptu tete-a-tete with Big Al. Crouch was talking to the forward group and he wasn't happy with how the smalls, mainly Lamb and Gordon, were crumbing to Walsh and Pyke and telling them to remain front and square when the ball came off hands. Morton also gave a few pointers to young Jed but I couldn't make out exactly what he was saying.

Even allowing for the quality of opposition today, it was an impressive display of conversion from set shots by a number of players capable of playing as specialist forwards.

I did get irritated by Morton playing on a couple of times and kicking around the corner when he'd taken a mark 15 metres out right in front of goal. Even though he scored the goals, you'd have to think his instruction would be to just go back and take the set shot.

I don't think Walsh is overly quick but he did show today that he is learning to time his short, sharp leads in the forward line quite well, and he seems to have a safe set of hands marking out just in front of himself. His kicking was mostly sound too.
Liz, I remember when we got him people on the Tigers site were saying that when he runs off the mark shooting for goal against Richmond, they better be prepared. So it must be a habit of his..maybe he's more confident kicking around his body?

Yeah but do they start doing it when your team is up by 20 goals? He wasn't doing that earlier or in previous games.

Funny how richmond supporters brought it up. Theyre rarely up by 2 goals let alone 20

Ugg, Al & Liz how did youn Biggs go? I saw your wrap but I was wondering if you think he could be brought up to the main list to replace Gary Rohan seeing he is on the long term injury list?

I watched a fair amount of the streaming. Armstrong looked not far off. seeming lack of pace is a small weakness for Walsh, would expect him to debute in the next few weeks. My guess is thatSeaby will start to tire in the no 1 ruck roll so Pyke does give you the confidence he could play that role.

Morton would impress more if he did not kick around corners as well. Must say hard to see why Lamb was picked so low for a not quick half forward
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Lamb's fitness is a bit down due to injury and I think he may be carrying a bit of weight. Low carb, high protien diet for Lambchop!

Even then, hard to understand why he was rated so highly. Maybe it was foot skills. Tough as it sounds highly rated pick and not pushing for selection in your second year, you were probably a mistake

He was ranked pretty highly prior to the 2010 draft - #15 by Emma Quayle who certainly knows her stuff. Touted as a great kick for goal as well as an exciting prospect, the sort of guy all of us as fans were wanting to get in. Of course pre-draft predictions can vary wildly and plenty of highly ranked picks don't make it (and plenty of not so highly ranked guys do make it), but in this case I wouldn't be giving up on Jed just yet.
