    Round 7 - Richmond

Goodes or no Goodes, the match against Richmond this week was always going to indicate how we're really travelling at the moment.

Richmond have been competitve without much success so far this season, but if we're genuine contenders, this is a game we simply must win. There aren't any excuses.

As for the venue, well, the MCG has been a graveyard for us for the last five years, scene of either heartbreak or humiliation. And the most recent humiliation was against none other than Richmond in Round 21 last year.

We didn't put in a four quarter effort against the Crows and look what happened. If we do it again against Richmond we'll get beat.

I'll tip us to win by 5 points - but only if we play a four quarter game.

'm confident. Goodes has been well held by Richmond last couple of games so this gives us a great opportunity to surprise them with some new blood.
    The boys will bounce back.

I'm really confident, we beat the Hawks on a big ground and our midfield has improved so much this year. Expect Jetta to burn it up and Sydney by 41.

richmond have a brilliant midfield as well. Going to be a tough game they are very much improved.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Really? So brilliant that they've won 2 games all season - I know they are improved and have some decent players in there, but if we can't handle them, we may as well give up on the season now.

              Richmond $1.78, Sydney $2.05

Make that $1.65 and $2.20. Nothing up yet for margins. Adelaide $2.20 head to head against Geelong is not bad odds.

We took care of the Roos without Goodes and Mummy. Should be able to take care of the Tiges.

Sam ought to be able to kick a couple against their under-manned defence.

As if the tigers have better odds than us? They beat Port Adelaide last week for there second only win. We were unfortunate to go down to Adelaide by less than a goal, and that's our first loss.

Their worst losses have been to Carlton and Collingwood in round one and two and they weren't exactly thrashings, and they only lost to both WC and Geelong by less than 2 goals. Combine that with the fact we've struggled in recent times at the 'G and now we've lost Goodes.
We will have to be at our best to win this but even if we don't, our team still holds a lot of promise and at round 7 to be 2 and 5 is no cause for concern.

Trying to soften the blow should we lose? Damn, we can afford to be a little more optimistic than that can't we?

The game Richmond lost to Collingwood the Pies had a lot of players out. They have been playing well but the indication of a good side is they win the ones the Tiges lost. If you can't beat the other sides in the 8 you don't deserve to be there. I think we will win well on the weekend. They are hard but I think our mids have the toughness their mids lack.

Simple, if we play 4 consistent qtrs and not a half or a qtr of the game we win. The thing that worries me most is our terrible record at the G over the last few years. Other than that if we are on our game we are a class above richmond and im confident we will be keen to bounce back this week. Swans by 17.

I'm going to this match and I really don't want my first game attended to this year to be another loss at the G. I think we're too good of a side to lose two in a row, and while the Tigers are in pretty good from themselves, I think we should have them covered. Swans by 33.
