    Josh Dunkley

Spotted this on that other site and thought some may be interested. Thanks to 71 gf from Hawthorn.

We have Andrew Dunkley at our local club (Sale) coaching his son Josh in the U/16's.Word has it that the Swannees already have young Josh lined up for a future father/son draft pick .He's 15yr old atm stands around 6'1" and still growing.Won the medal for best afield when Gippy Power won the bottom age U/16 title at the schoolboys carnival earlier this year.He is as good a mark as his dad but is probably more mobile and more importantly ,can actually kick. Will probably play senior footy at Sale at some stage this year.Seeing as this is the former player thread ,just thought you guys might've been interested so i thought i'd weigh in .This kid will be a star in a swans jumper in the future if he keeps going.cheers.

Sounds like one to keep an eye on.

    Sounds great if true.

I suspect they are exaggerating at this stage about his marking though. Dunks was one of the true great marks...

    Let's keep those fingers crossed...

Well that covered off my first question!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

You live pretty close to me, sounds pretty good man. 6'1" at his age is a pretty good effort looking forward to hearing more about him over the last couple of years.

Imagine telling a young Swans fan that Dunks was a better mark than Sam, but a much worse kick.

They'd surely think you had it back to front....lol

            Hehe.
Still hard to believe he was that bad, except in front of Goal.
Maybe he could teach Sam a thing or 2.

Dunks didn't like to kick, and rarely did, but he could hit a player around the field if he had to

                Oh Dunks.
                I loved Dunks.
Wouldn't want to be standing anywhere near him when the ball came his way though. Scary!!
He could hit a player INTO the field.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Not necessarily the one he was aiming for, of course.

Oh dear god, am I THAT old!!! a 15 yo junior dunks, standing over six feet. I still have old photos of him and his older sister Lara, from way back, somewhere in the dump that is my office.

Dunks was crap at kicking (we all know he kicked out of bounds while trying for goal in the goal square - some of us were there and still hug ourselves with delight at the thought of how funny it was) he used to swing his leg out in an arc, weird weird action, but he always seemed to be in the right place at the right time and he was solid as a brick dunny with his hands. I loved watching him. I loved his last game when he actually marked a ball and the rest of the team seemed to be standing there with their hands behind their backs, refusing to take a hand ball from him. I know we all cheered when he kicked on.

Helluva player. Not conventional, but.... and now there is a prospect of another Dunks!! Dunkette?

                          He's a bit small!!

Interesting to see Horse in the Box. I forgot he'd been around so long.

Carey is still a horses butt, some of his comments on whatever that footy show he's on, just ridiculous. I remeber a Norf game I went to mudpile scg, he marked inside 50 spent 5 minutes drying the ball (illegally), so we asked him if he wanted a hair dryer, then he sprayed it out on the full. I believe we won that game too, nice day
