Comparing White to LRT is incredibly unfair to LRT. He has played some great footy for the Swans over many years and been a premiership player. The club has also rewarded him by renewing his contract for another 2 years. Jesse has had 6 years to produce and has failed miserably every time he has had an opportunity. Its chalk and cheese really.

White gets a kick and lays a tackle and everyone gets all hot and bothered. LRT does the same ( or more),and either does not get a mention or cops a pasting. Expectations and perceptions. We all need to except the fact that White, as much as every swans supporter wants him to be a gun, is probably never going to amount to much at aFL level. At least not with us..... If he was going to , he would have already.... Surely ... . Bring on the Tommy Gun and the Big Moooooseeeee ahhhhhh . Can't wait to pull out a big Moooooooooseeeeee ahhhh ( hand actions included) at the next game I'm at !

So we're invalidating a discussion on the current respective form of two players simply because one them on career to date doesn't belong in the same rarefied air as the other?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

To be perfectly honest I think you could argue that statement both ways; particuarly if they are pretty much even stevens as far as production for the year yet people are suggesting it's absurd to compare them.

I really am not trying to be argumentative here, I think it's a perfectly reasonably observation to make that Lewis has now twice been brought straight back into the seniors over Jesse (so clearly the coaches favour him in that role) and to be concerned about bringing in the (arguably) lesser ruckman as backup when we are giving our third choice starting ruckman, who is still working back from an injury, their first run of the season.

It is a shame that there is an LRT v White debate at all. Personally, I would like both to be in the team.

To me, White is a forward, not a ruckman. He should be given a chance to hold down ful forward.

LRT is a backman (one of our best) and should play there. He then has the utility ability to fill a gap somewhere else if needed. If that means young Alex Johnson plays somewhere else or is dropped, then so be it.

It will be funny if they decide to try Reg forward again, send LRT to Mitch Clark and go with Tommy as 2nd ruck. 8 pages of irrelevant posts....lol

You need to start getting your head around this. The guy has had his chances and is simply not effective as an AFL standard player. He cannot kick goals. He gives away free kicks like nobody's business and he just cannot seem to read the play. After three years how many more chances do you want to give him?
Jesse has played 2 games this year in neither has he spent a sustantial amount of time at FF so not sure of your point has been given chances at FF even in reserves he spents little time at FF?In the 2 games he has played , played well in 1st and poor in second mainly played as 2 nd ruck. Not AFL standard you must be a better judge than Swans recruiting and coaching staff, would be a walk up start in at least 4 clubs. 3 years of chances you say how many consecutive games has he played in 3 years??

All Im trying to say is the guy hasnt really been given a chance even last year once he had the chance to play 3 consecutive games and build confidence he played better. He has not been given that chance this year due to horses loyalty to LRT or the percieved perception LRT is a more flexiable option which hasnt come true apart from the freo game.

                    Cheers

To think back a few seasons ago in Rd22 when he tore Lachie Henderson a new one against Brisbane. He looked AWESOME that day. Then Bradshaw came in and he has just been going thru the motions ever since, even tho Bradshaw was done and dusted a month into the season. I reckon it's also the game where Brisbane thought it was a good deal offloading Henderson off to Carlton for Fev.

In hindsight, for a nothing career, he's done a bit our Jesse. Ran on as the 19th man against Norf, giving us this stupid interchange rule, convinced Brisbane that the Fev for Henderson was a good move and in so doing has just about @@@@@@ Brisbane as a force for the next 5 years and brought the club to it's knees.

                      Well done Jesse...lol

Now now, I did qualify it by pointing out that Tommy may be second ruck anyway!

Although, point would still stand to some degree as far as using him as the backup to Pyke when he's coming in for his first game of the year. No issues if it was to backup Seabs.

LRT has something to offer as a backman but there is no room for him there at the moment. Jesse has something to offer as a forward if he ever gets his act together. Unfortunately the only place in the team for them at the moment is one to which neither of them is really suited. Neither of them is a ruckmans arsehole. Once Mummy returns Pyke is the logical player for the second ruck/forward spot which means they are both without a place.

What have we done in the past when we didn't have this clutch of talls at our disposal? So many possible selections, positions, combinations. It gives us something to exercise our minds as the week unfolds. First we have the 'excitement' of finding out whether the selection panel agrees with us - or not, and then the wait to see who is going to play where. Meanwhile pages of speculation fill up the threads. It is all good. So far I have two ticks one cross! I hope Pyke is up for it. I would have had Seaby in but at the expense of LRT!

In the end I just hope that they all play really well and show us how good they are.

Well put agree completely I hope Pyke plays well because I think he has more upside than either as 2nd ruck and occasional fwd. Lrt needs role in back half Jesse in fwd half no rucking involved cant happen with current structure..
