They were Cheer Girls who were on platforms at either end of the SCG and world dance after every goal.

I hate to be the first to break the news to you Big Al, but I?m not sure the Swantits were exactly ummm female. Not that there?s anything wrong with that ;-)

Well if the Swantits and Swannettes aren't the same thing then I am confused and the Telescope remains locked up until I find out.

When we used to go and see Capper at the SCG my brother and I used to take it in turns trying to stick our knees into dad's back and take a speccy whilst screaming "CAPPER!". The old man's going to be nervous on Saturday night- we're all a few years removed from it physically, but certainly not from a maturity perspective.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

They were almost indistinguishable, apart for the fact that the Swannettes were very attractive females and the Swantits were a bunch of old drag queens.
My opinion is objective truth in its purest form

Ah, you learn something new everyday. It was definitely the Swannettes that I remember.

They sound fascinating! Were they officially sanctioned by the Swans? It's like a history lesson haha

There's only so much RAM in my head so I choose to keep the memory of pretty girls, footy, pin numbers and the occasional name there. (that order isn't random ) Bearded blokes in dresses don't make the cut.

Swannettes were situated behind the goals, the Swantits used to make a grand entrance to wolf whistles and much mirth just before the game and 'perform' either in the O'Reilly or just in front of it in the O'Reilly concourse (memory fading) ....

I think they used to sit at the north end of the O'Reilly concourse, where the display car was for a number of years too (whatever sort of car that was). Pretty much in the spot where my group has sat for the last number of years, until this year due to the construction.

I think the Swantits showed up the silliness of the Swanettes and other 'cheerleaders', who were just there to look pretty and that was about it. The Swantits bought a bit of colour and movement and a bit of a Sydney flavour to the game - it would be great to have them at the game this weekend for a laugh...

Does anyone remember the "Come on Sydney, we're the Sydney Swans..." song?

Yeah the Swantits would be great for a comeback but I don't know how many are still alive or are on zimmer frames these days as that was a long time ago. Twenty to thirty years since they have been seen. Maybe someone over at Gay Sydney Swans knows?
