More practicality than negativity. Reid is down on confidence and probably carrying an injury. He has been way down during the past month. If you are appointed FF and don't kick goals or take marks you should be replaced with someone who can. IMO he needs to go back to the twos. I would replace him with Seaby or White (of all people) who should be rested having the week off. Either of them could serve as second ruck to Pyke and support LRT down back. Now does that sound like negativity?

Horse has said he's over the injury and has trained fully the last 2 weeks. He's been down on confidence but has still been contributing to the team. Also the 2nd half saw a more confident Reid so I don't understand the drop Reid argument when he's over the injury and is getting the confidence back.

Anyway it's a moot point... He will not be dropped.

Sheeze some of you are harsh about Sammy! He is a kid. A big kid mind you, but he is still only 20, has a huge frame that he is still growing into, cannot slip away from the opposition because he is just to big to lose sight of, and he does not drop his head and give up. He worked up the ground. He blocked. He contended. He was involved in the game.

Just because he wasn't sighted on TV as much as you would like, didn't mean he was off skulking in the recesses. He played a different type of role. He worked himself into the game. He was a part of a TEAM. Not just standing in the forward line providing fodder for a highlights reel.

Just because he isn't Plugger from debut doesn't mean he has to be dropped to ressies where he would do......what? Learn more from ressie competition than he can from AFL standard? Give me (and Sam) a break!

Agree completely, but even on TV his effort was obvious. A thousand times I've said to learn senior footy you must play senior footy, I stole that from one Mick Malthouse, he knows a couple of things about footy, as do our coaches and recruiting division. Reid is also being paid a lot more respect than he was last year, but does the job of dragging defenders outside our f50, clearing the way for mids to run in and kick goals. As reid grows into his body and heads toward 100 games, team tactics will change I'm sure

As some-one who has been banging on about "forward structure" since Longmire became senior coach, I was most pleased to see something taking shape that looks sustainable. Sure the midfielders kicked all the goals at the beginning, and more overall, but there seems to me a developing structure.

I am a great fan of TDL, and his ability to get into space (as well as his accurate kicking). When the ball is coming quickly he seems always to be a potential target.

Walsh and Pyke did provide the big body close to the goal. Neither is a real 'power forward' but they make their presence felt, and the midfielders seemed to benefit. LRT always competes also.

Reid seemed more comfortable as the game progressed and some of his marking up the ground was his trademark stuff.

Man sized income is called an investment in the future, and in this case it is in Swans footy future not for instance IT where you can hire and fire at will, because there is always someone good enough to replace you!

He is ours because the people in charge have deemed it a great idea to lock him in. Now comes the hard work for all concerned.

Many people have lost the lot by investing in get rich quick schemes. I am all for investing in the future and seeing steady growth.

I'm not suggesting I think that, I just meant I can see how lots of press and a big contract may lead to increased expectations.

I don't think he should be exempt from a trip to the magoos if his form is poor, though.

Dunno if its been mentioned but being young and having two best defenders each week will put any young kid under pressure.

Also dunno if its been mentioned but he is only 20..i mean only 20 and he is playing a KP and a very important one at that.

Just thought i'll mention it just in case it hasnt..you know.

Would not even think about dropping him..won't do his development any good. Drop him for a rest maybe but thats about it.

Am watching Adelaide take Carlton apart in Melb at the moment and considering they destroyed Geelong last week, all of a sudden, our 5 point loss to them doesnt seem so bad!!!


Oh, and it was a good win yesterday, Melbourne were ordinary yes, but we did play well. I'm just hoping we saw the re-emergance of the 2nd half of 2010 Keiran Jack yesterday, he played a ripping game!!!

I think the performances v Adelaide and Richmond were very different, and because they were two losses on the trot, it made everyone nervous. The Adelaide game was very close, one of those "honourable losses", but Richmond was plain embarrassing and that is what made a lot of people doubt us. I think we can make the Top 4 with some improvements

Although given that the tigers actually pushed the bombers, who are probably the form team ATM, and actually hit the lead with less than 10 minutes to go before being swamped, also makes that loss look not so embarrassing, as it shows how good the tiges are playing as well.

I would be interested to hear people's thoughts on TDL's games this week and last week. Last week in particular I thought his tackling and defensive pressure was a lot better. Last year one of the commentators damned him saying he "tackled with his fingertips". Last week he seemed to put his whole body into it and I think the coaches would have been pleased.

I didn't think he was quite as good with the defensive work this week, but maybe when you're winning by 15 goals it's a bit harder to keep up the motivation.

Yah fair call, it's fantastic that the comp is even and more clubs are in contention. Can't think of anything better for the AFL as a whole

I agree with all this, as well as our loss to the Crows now not looking so bad, considering we just didn't turn up in the first q against the tigers, we actually did pretty well. Form lines in AFL are hard to follow, but this one looks obvious
