Not captain material IMO.. Maybe we have been spoiled with Kelly and Kirk.. Maxfield was working his way into the role nicely before he retired. I thought Jude should have got the gig at the time.. Too late now.. I am not sure who I would pick based on todays effort..

I like mcveigh but he is just not able to imprint himself on a match if it is going the wrong way.

Not sure about this thread ... Define inspiring leadership? is it only based on match day output ?? All I know is regardless of the state of the game he cracks in for 4 quarters and from all reports sets a great example around the club

I'm happy to accept what you say but after Skilton, Kelly,Kirk, Goodes, ect. I expect our Captain to be someone who can inspire the team by example, on the ground, when things are against us.

Yes mcveigh is hardly an inspiring captain. Gets a few touches but must of them go to the opposition.
Than again we don't have many choices.
Starting to understand why St Kilda did not fight too hard to hold on to Walsh. Gaelic football is his go, not AFL. Send him to Ireland. One possession for the day! Hope he exhausted after his effort.

When he was subbed off, the ball had been in the Essendon forward line for 70% of the game ... There's not much he can do if the ball is not there! Wouldn't be pinning this one on the forwards ...

Exactly my point. I have yet seen him win a contested ball. Even against melbourne it was a few touches with lucky bounces.
