Changes for Rnd 11 V Bombers

Could not have Malceski back. The backline looked far more fluid and cohesive without him. He gets dragged back to the goals and is far too one sided which gets him into awful trouble. As far as I am concerned he can now be purely a back up player for the backline. Lets face it there is no other position for him.

Bring Spangher in now that McGlynn is out and replace Parker with a small. Like for like is how Collingwood does it without upsetting their structures.

We'll need speed for Etihad going on the St.Kilda game, Cunningham & Biggs are genuine chances IMO. Also if we think we could bottle the game up and make it contested why not use Mitchell we have nothing to lose.
I know who will be playing deep forward on Fletcher and it won't be Reid or Spangher, without a doubt LRT will be playing on him as a defensive forward.

Bring in Moore as the sub is my vote. He's hard (like McGlynn and Parker), can play either mid or forward and from what i hear is perhaps our best player in the ressies. Using him as the sub won't make him faster, but he only has to last a quarter or so (fingers crossed).

Yeah he didn't play the last quarter and might have gone off before that but I put that down to him playing out his alloted time rather than injury. Wait for the official report tomorrow

LRT played a decent game on Sunday but lets not get too excited. It was a 92 point drubbing against a probable bottom 6 team who is renowned for its lack of key defenders.

He had 8 disposals, 3 marks, 2 tackles and 2 goals, had a certain other key forward prospect on our list achieved similar stats there'd be howls that he's not up to it and doesn't provide any forward pressure.

I'm not suggesting that he be dropped but lets see how he goes this week against a top 4 team with some quality key defenders.

The reality is that a key forward who's best attribute is that he "provides a contest" is not the answer. I would think that Hirdy and Bomber will spend about 5 seconds this week discussing how they're going to stop LRT. He's not a natural forward and I don't think he's capable of scoring the 25+ required from a permanent forward.

(LRT will now kick 7 in a BOG performance against the Bombers)

And how much cleaner did we look in disposals without Mal turning it over? It certainly turned the spotlight on Macca's dubious effectiveness (though he looked better on TV in replay than he did at the ground).

I agree Macca didn't look good at the ground, he fumbled too much. He also tried to get around the player instead of bodying, this I can understand with his slight build but it unbalanced him a few times. With Mal being out Rhyce's effectiveness had to improve and it did, he played quite well.

Old rule: don't change a winning combination. Of course we have to, with Parker's injury, and I suspect that Armstrong will get the nod. The question then is another tall (Spangher, not White or Everitt) or the prime substitute choice, a mid/utility. I lean towards the second option, but it needs to be someone with a bit of pace - perhaps Cunningham will return.
I like seeing LRT perform as he did yesterday: he's a good back, a respectable forward, a fairly useless ruck. We must keep Mummy and Pyke together; they enhance each other.

Dim, Cunningham was an elevated rookie for Alex Brown when he was injured. He is now back on the Rookie list as Brown is now back playing. We can't play him as far as I know. I agree that the ruck combo on the weekend was great and Pykie was really good. At the ground you got a great idea of just how much work he did and he did the majority of the rucking. I would like to know who they are going to elevate after the BYE for Rohan as I think we have to wait until after the half way mark. I would suggest that while Harry is special he still lacks a little maturity and I'd be more interested in Biggs.

If Mummy is fit to ruck the majority of a game, I can see us going:

In: Spang (2nd tall FWD), Eski/Morton (Any small for Parks is likely to get the green vest, so someone who can have an impact in a quarter of footy)

Out: Parker (inj), Pyke (stiff but is behind Sugar Shane and LRT)

Though against the Dons who have a good set of versatile talls (Bellchambers, Ryder, Hurley, Carlisle all are mobile) we may keep the 3 ruck options and bring in a runner (Eski most likely) for Parker and leave it at that.

TPR did you even see the game on Sunday? I was at the game and big Pykie was fantastic and did the majority of the ruck work. Mummy played mainly forward and acted as a foil to Reid and LRT. What you see at the game is a lot more than on telly and Pykie works so hard when he hasn't got the pill. He sets up blocks and throws his considerable weight around to protect our ball players. His tap to I think it was Kizza for a goal was bliss. Pykie to stay for mine!

If they get back smaller more mobile players then we will have no option than to match up but if they go tall then we can also go tall. In other words if they get say Hille back and decide to play him then it would be worthwhile bringing the Spang in. If they play a very fast small in an effort to expose any perceived lack of speed then I would go for a small.

If your referring to White as the other key forward, I disagree. He'd be praised for a week at least of he had those stats. What you also don't see In the stats is the amount of strong contests LRT gave, something which White rarely does. He went hard at very ball and really crashed some packs and created crumbs for or smalls.
