Jetta 3 bounce goal vs Ahmat 3 bounce goal (1999)

Was Jetta's 3 bounce goal (from the right HBF) as good or better than Robbie Ahmat's goal (from the left HBF) in 1999?

Ha! I was just thinking the same thing. Ahmat's goal has been a long term favourite of mine - mainly because of the lack of competition in the red & white highlight reel. However Jetta is now doing similar or better things seemingly every week. He has had a outstanding season so far, and is as exciting and certainly more productive player than Ahmat.

Was it Ahmat or Jamie Lawson that had career cut short by injury? Maybe both?

Lawson broke his leg and we never saw him again.

I think i counted 4 bounces in that Ahmat goal, 10 metres back then? I don't think Ahmat played a lot of games for us, although my memory isn't what it used to be, I can't rememeber what happened to him

Robbie gave it away at the end of 2001 I think, he had some things outside of footy really upset him and he wanted to just head back to the NT and SA. I recall Rocket at the time wanted him to stay but he just was over it all. A shame really because once he sorted his hammy/quad issues he really started to look like he was going to be a dangerous forward.

Jetta's running goal didn't make it to the AFL Top Ten. His goal from the pocket did though.

I thought Robbie started from further back. He had the good grace to do it down our wing, so that gets bonus points. For me it was my lingering memory of Robbie, but for LJ I would already struggle to pick one.

Blame the commentators for that one - it was a stunning goal, the best moment of the game, at the ground the crowd went wild and the sydneeeey chant went up after it. The commentators (who were somewhat okay otherwise) were blabbing on about other stuff and talking about where Reid was leading and then when he kicked it they kind of said 'oh he has got it'. If they had amped up the excitement it would have got more kudos I think.

It would be good for someone to do a highlights reel at the end of the year of all the great Jetta goals. I still think the one against Freo where he sprinted for half the field, got past two players and managed to control it just in time is one of the best goals I've seen, it just doesn't look as good on TV as it did high up at the ground.

What SCG said. Commentators much better than previous outings with us, but still forgetting that the game at hand is more important than off topic chats.

I loved that goal. But I must admit I am almost "used" to seeing this run from Jetts, but the fact that it was a wet track should have made it a bit more razzly in the commentators eyes. For that alone I would say it is better than Robbie's. However Robbie's was a true gem, he was headed straight towards me; the crowd went OFF!

Sorry to have lost Robbie; nowadays other things would have been in place to give him more backup when he needed it most.

                    Thanks Matt for posting vision.

The big difference IMHO was Ahmat seemed to have no intention of passing it off. Jetta liked like hew wanted to give it off but decided better of it.

Tough choice. I'll call it a tie.

Lawson was just starting to realize his potential. An absolute tragedy. That's why I am worried about Rooster.

I am not worried about the Rooster.

. Thumbs up and wave as he left the ground on a stretcher
. Gets them to post an after operation photo of him on twitter with thanks to all for sending good wishes.
. In the office on the phone with membership drive.
. Sitting with Goodsey in the stands for the Dogs game.

All in all, to start with, a different personality. A different environment. Sooo much support.

I have full faith in the Rooster to be able to cope. (on the side, he is a much heavier build than Jamie was, I think his bones will cope too).
