All aboard the Alex Brown Bandwagon

Stuey Maxfields thoughts on Alex Brown.....

"A player of the future to keep an eye on is young Alex Brown. Brown has played the last two games in the reserves and has had a really impressive debut in that team.

We?re just finding out a bit about Alex and how he plays. We?ve obviously seen his tapes in terms of a recruiting point of view but he?s had two hip scopes, so we hadn?t seen much. But what we?ve seen over the past fortnight has been a pleasant surprise and in his first game he really gave us some drive off half back.

He?s only played two half games at the moment but we?re really encouraged with what he?s got to offer."

That'll do me, I'm boarding the wagon as we speak!

He was rated as a top 25 draft prospect going into last season but struggling with his hip problem fell off the radar a bit. Hopefully now that that's over we can start seeing the best of him

Maxfield not quick with praise. I reckon this equates to a rave from most supporters.
      Good luck to the lad!

Can he play as a key forward? I think we're stocked up enough in the backline already

Player list says Brown is 192m and 82kg
Reid is 194 and 95 respectively

He also has a bit of pace, so despite his height I think half back flank is the place for him.

I liked the footage of him when we drafted him. I am very much looking forward to seeing him play. He hasn't played at the SCG yet so I haven't had a chance to see him live. Looking forward to that. Back line looks set for the next 5-10 years. Brown & 'Ronnie' Biggs that is, Armstrong, AJ etc all coming through nicely.

Looking forward to actually seeing AB play before I make any judgement (not that I am discounting Stuey's remarks, I am just saying..) so if the rain gods are listening, please back off for next Thursday and Friday, thank you.

Great praise for Brown makes me look forward to hearing from you ressies watchers on how he looks. In the meantime, I am a little bemused as to how Mitchell racks up so many possessions in limited game time and is never mentioned by coaches. Are they keeping a blanket over him?

I have no idea why coaches don't mention Mitchell when he was sensational when I saw him & he played 70 minutes. As for Alex I will definitely be having a good look. I like Biggs as I have told people and thought from the pre-season he was good, even in the Intra. He has been proving me right most weeks by being in the best and he is still on the Rookie list. Mitchell didn't play last week, his shin was sore according to the website.

The last player I remember him giving kudos to was Sumner. That didnt go so well.

Well he COULD play! He just didn't wanna here in Sydney. BTW, does anyone know if he has picked up his boots in S.A. this year?

Seems to have been in the best the last 2 weeks, unless of course thats a different Sumner.

Just ran a check on their website; listed as being recruited from SydneySwans, so I guess that is that. He is in the senior side. Just guess he had to do what he had to do.

Side Note: there are some serious units in that list btw.
