I don't want to see too many changes just for the sake of seeing what will happen.. Percentage is going to play a big role this year.. It would be nice to see us have a big win.. Not just a win..

Agree with the above two comments.
Percentage is vital and you don't want to mess unnecessarily with a winning formula. Having said that I wouldn't be against giving Everitt a full game against a couple of weaker teams over the next fortnight to maintain his match fitness and handing the sub vest to someone who may need the rest (Bolton, ROK, AJ, Jetta)
Wouldn't be against giving McVeigh a week off regardless of when bub is born given what he went through last yearComment

There is more to consider than just getting max points from the next game. Consideration must be given to player development. This means that we should make room in the side for one or two players that have shown consistent strong performances in the reserves. It's a way of knowing the depth players we have on hand in case they are needed later in the season due to injury or form slumps to the usual senior players.
The point I was making earlier about using the next game and perhaps the Gold Coast game to play some of our better ressie performers is that it adds needed senior experience to our depth players and you never know what gems might turn up. The point about Collingwood and WCE is that they have performed well even though that had to play many inexperienced players due to a long injury list. So bringing in a young player doesn't necessarily mean a drop in performance.
Collingwood has now played 35 players this year compare to the Swans 30, including household names like Kirk Ugle, Peter Yagmoor, Paul Seedsman, Marley Williams, Tom Young and Jamie Elliot, who looks like a gem. And they're at the top of the table despite having these sort of players filling in for the likes of Luke Ball and Scott Pendlebury. Even in the Malthouse period they would regularly rotate young players into the side. I think this is one of the reasons for their success and the depth that they have.
I am just saying that I think this is good policy and we should take the opportunity, especially when playing weaker opponents, to bring a few of our less experienced players into the senior side if they have shown good form in the reserves. It's not about resting players. It's about learning about what the best combination of players is when finals come around.Comment

Barassi used to say 'Give 'em a sniff'! All the good coaches follow this mantra as it helps to develop your next generation of player. Look at Collingwood as Ludwig has said.Comment

Every other quality side has rested players against GWS/Suns and with good reason. We will have more injuries this year and need to try Spang and TDL again. I'm not sold on Morton he looks too slow to me. Seniors footy requires a forward to chase. Not sure he can do that well enough.Comment

We just came off a bye, why would need to rest players?Comment

Agree with you ugg, and that man in your picture wouldn't appreciate another rest just after a bye I wouldn't have thought. Guys like Jude, O'Keefe and Goodes should be cherry ripe for the rest of the season and they know how to get it done.
We need percentage against the Giants this weekend, especially with the Eagles playing GCS at home. At this stage building our momentum and our percentage is crucial.Comment

Its 'unfortunate' that we play GWS so close to the bye because it is the ideal game to give a couple of the ressies players a game. However there is not much point in resting Jude, ROK or Shaw/Mattner or anyone at this stage. When you think about it it is usually the young ones who start to fade towards the end of the season.
If Macca goes out I would like to see TDL or Nipper come in. I would really like to see Morton, to see what he has to offer but not if his defensive skills still need work. Morton and Nipper and probably Spangs need a game before the end of the year for their confidence and development but it is hard to see how it is going to happen.Comment

Never mind the changes for this game. The important one is the week after when we play a resurgent Brisbane. It looms as a danger game to me.Comment

Cheap shot! People fail to realise that Christmas and Easter are absorbed into school holidays, there are no RDO's or nine day fortnights. Most teachers would also do at LEAST another day a week in un-paid overtime at night and at weekends. Plus the pay is pathetic for the training and responsibility teachers carry. Every teacher I know who has gone into other professions talk about how cushy and less stressful it is!
Back to the topic - No changes unless they are forced. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment
