Changes for Rnd 14 V The Giants

Every other quality side has rested players against GWS/Suns and with good reason. We will have more injuries this year and need to try Spang and TDL again. I'm not sold on Morton he looks too slow to me. Seniors footy requires a forward to chase. Not sure he can do that well enough.
The best way to motivate the youngsters in the 2s would be to show them we're a team on track for a top four finish, and who rewards form and consistency.
My stab in the dark... Other than injuries (none that I know of), or Macca, only change is that LRT may make way, probably for the Spang or TDL, but I doubt even that. Everitt still stays on the bench if no other change - I think they feel he's more versatile in the case of an unplanned sub than most.
We shall see! Just hoping we win, and by 100+ would be very, very handy.Superman still wears Brett Kirk PyjamasComment

They won't rest players. If we are able to maintain a very high percentage that could mean the difference between top four or top six. Home games in finals campaign. We have just had a rest so that argument is moot.
I have also noted that this year they have rotated the sub players, so Drey will probably get the call up this week, and perhaps Craig will get the quarter game. I cannot see any other change than this at this stage. Unless You shift LRT back and bring TDL in and drop a backman......nup noone I want to drop at the back and that also means no NicMal, and that's awkward.
Come on guys get with the programme. Someone play crap so that one of the ressies can be called in. Fairs fair.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

Collingwood has now played 35 players this year compare to the Swans 30, including household names like Kirk Ugle, Peter Yagmoor, Paul Seedsman, Marley Williams, Tom Young and Jamie Elliot, who looks like a gem. And they're at the top of the table despite having these sort of players filling in for the likes of Luke Ball and Scott Pendlebury. Even in the Malthouse period they would regularly rotate young players into the side. I think this is one of the reasons for their success and the depth that they have.
However I do agree that we should give some seconds players some encouragement with an opportunity in the firsts. Not to rest some of the players in the firsts as has been noted they've just had a week off.
And while I agree with Kirkari about the importance of improving our %, I can't see last weekends team dishing out a 100 point belting to GWs, can anyone here? It just doen't seem to be part of our nature. Unless the opposition plays completely unaccountable/defence free football (I wish I didn't think so little of those that willfully take things out of context, but unfortunately I do). So why not give a chance to a player or two that will feel a sense of real urgency?Last edited by Ruck'n'Roll; 28 June 2012, 01:07 PM. Reason: Why is it some people won't answer PM's?Comment

It will be hard to flog GWS - if the game goes as expected, we will skip out to a nice lead, and then they will likely stack all their players back inside their own 50. This is what they did in the first game and we found it difficult to score. If they do it this time we'll have to work our way through the flood, and a noted goal kicker like TDL (first choice) or Morton (second) would be the only in I could see from last week's mob.Comment

We can't really rest players because we're playing against our local "rivals" and it would look like we weren't giving the derby any respect. It's different for clubs travelling from interstate. Not having to travel for three or four weeks will be as good as freshening up by missing a game anyway, if not better. It's one advantage that GWS gives us now that helps us get closer to equal footing with other clubs who have a local derby (or several if you're Victorian).
I agree on including a genuine goal kicking small forward, but I wonder if it will happen.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

LRT has pictures!I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

You almost sound surprised!
GWS have a few players who weren't there in round 1 - Brogan, Scully, Patton, and I think Power and Davis (?).
A stronger side but surely they're one team that isn't going to outscore us in the second half (firmly gripping large piece of timber). The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment
