It reminded me a bit of 05/06 where we didn't really get any respect and sort of flew under the media's radar. Does it matter? It's kind of annoying but if we keep getting results that's the best way to answer it.
With the way we played for 3 quarters, I don't think we deserve much respect. Yet...

And I'd hate to say it, but maybe they (and Bombers in the final qtr last game) found a chink in our armour to win. It may be the slowness in our midfield (excluding Jets) or the marking around thereabouts..

We still have a lot to do.. who gives a **** about respect.. I'll take the wins...

we have this same thing a lot, no respect we question why, we find it good to fly under the radar etc

i get more sick of hearing how we timed it right in 2005 and did well to win than the lack or respect for the current side, flying under the radar is fine by me during the year, but when we win at the end give us the bloody respect we deserve
Theres not much left to say

photographers took Friday night off did they? Or perhaps the game was just too dull and they fell asleep...

p.s. i'd be pissed off if i were a Geelong supporter too.

I hope the OP didn't watch AFL360 last night. According to Robbo, the Swans and Bombers will finish the H&A season outside the top 4, replaced by Adelaide and Hawthorn.

And in the final segment Huddo asked something like "are the Swans playing the most exciting brand of footy at the moment?". Huddo (a Cats fan) brought up the graphic of the Swans' recent 1st qtrs and went on about the Swans blew the Cats away last Fri night. Robbo literally huffed and replied "and they won the game by 4 points".

That's not to say Robbo is wrong, but he is often indicative of the sniffy attitude some Melb journos have towards the Swans.

I saw that! I had mentioned at the start of the show how they will completely avoid talking about us and sure as eggs, they talked about the game without saying the word Sydney!
That we got recognition later in the show for playing exciting football stunned me, that is until that idiots response!

Robinson is the flavour of the season. He is on damn everything these days. Lately he has been getting really excited about what he says. A lot of the time he makes sense but I get the feeling he is getting a bit carried away with his own importance.

Agree at least Gerard can keep him under control poor Huddo didn't stand a chance. But Robbo is a bombers man do he won't talk up many other teams. Another who can make him look stupid is Mark McClure - "sellers" wont take any crap ftom him either
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

If you want to listen to AFL programs on the radio, then do as I do and download the TuneIn app. You might be surprised that members of the Melbourne media have tipped us to be in the Grand Final.

I think at times we like to play the 'nobody loves us' card.
Yeah I was quite surprised to find that we were all the rage on SEN on friday night, then again on saturday morning then Triple M gave us a good go on both sat and sunday in their pre-game talk. If we want this respect or whatever from the media, which I too couldnt give a rats if we do or dont get, then we do need to finish top 4 and at least get to the prelim or even better, win the GF! Going out in straight sets would be disastrous and would further fuel their lack of respect or whatever it is that seems to be against us.

The media change every week, I'm not too fussed by them. You started a thread saying we were top 4 imposters a few weeks ago. Have you changed your mind?

A lots changed in 4 weeks, but we still have a long way to go to remain in the top 4. I would think we can't afford to lose more than 3 more games, and we have the pies, cats at kardinia, hawks, saints, blues at etihad and WCE at Subi to come. plus we have to win all the other games that we SHOULD win. When we lost to Saints and tiges we were top 4 impostors, but after our last 3 rounds I'd say we deserve to be there, at this stage.

Fair call Melbourne_Blood, what it does show is that we can all get carried away with individual games - losses and wins. I can just about gurantee that we will drop at least another game that we're 'meant' to win, such is the evenness of this competition.

The way the team is currently playing seems more consistent with a top 4 side. The only concern is the lack of four quarter effort.

We should get better from here, with Goodes and Muumy finding some fitness, and hopefully settling on our best 21, after BWS (yes, did that on purpose, just for fun) we do have a tough run home, with Brisbane looking like the easiest game even though they appear to be playing well. Hopefully the fitness guys have a path mapped out that sees us peak at the right time, but really, I really want us to beat the PIes this year, I believe we have the capacity to beat WC over there, Carlton have fallen in a screaming heap and it's likely that at least one of teh teams in the top 5 will fall over at some stage. We just have to win games

I am worried. The AFL gave us a 9/10 mid year report. Something must be wrong. Cudos from Melbourne? I am having a little fluttering of the disbeliefs.
