Got this from an article in the Age by Robert Walls. Seemed to make a lot of sense to me, which could be the onset of Alzheimer's on my part. Anyway it had a table of goals from power forward pairs :
1. 70 - Hawthorn : Franklin/Roughead
2. 66 - Adelaide : Walker/Tippett
...
14. 29 - Sydney : Reid/Goodes
Carl, GWS, WB & GC came in last.

So can we defy the trend of recent history and do well in September with most of our goals coming from our midfield?

Speaking of omens I think the fact by better half and I are off overseas in September pretty well guarantees the be there come the last Saturday...

I thought pretty fair analysis (though I had to make sure it was written by Walls). Our marking forwards are probably our biggest weakness so you'd expect us to be in the bottom part of the chart. Of course Goodes was been out nearly half the season and Reid carrying an injury. Now both are injury-free and in-form so we're going to pretty potent scoring side over the rest of the season.

Well a nice little haul of 9 from the pair of them won't do that stat any harm Considering the troubles Reidy has had overall, and Goodesy reasonably long absence, its hardly suprising we are a fair way down.

Our forward line is potentially our achilles heal, but our lack of reliance on it for goals overall could also be something that sets us apart come September. But Reid certainly had a good game today, and Goodesy was back on the right track as well.

A Sam Reid improvement will make such a difference. That said the absence of a big power forward represents the biggest hurdle for Sydney.

Yeah I'd take that article with a grain of salt with it restricting the analysis to "forward pairs". Part of the secret behind the 2005 success was "multiple options".

We've actually done quite well points wise, helped by our top of the league accuracy stats.. compared to normally being quite a low scoring team. Sam Reid is beginning to attract multiple defenders, and Adam Goodes as usual too, so many of our goals come via running CHF/midfielders


To be honest a similar article could make a case for goalscorers outside the "power forwards" with the swans/pies/eagles/bombers all up there and GWS/GC last
