    Swans regeneration on AFL Insider

There has been criticism of not much Swans discussion, well tonight on AFL Insider they got plenty and an analysis of last week's game with lots of footage.

Panel were Dunstall, Lynch, Eade and King.

They tried to provide reasons why the Swans have improved so much this season and broke it down as follows:

    1. Provided video footage of the defesive combination that Grundy and Richards have together. They also mentioned the running ability to take the ball out of defence.

    2. A breakdown of some stats comparing last year to this:

    Criteria .................................................. .......................................... 2011..............................................2012

    More handballs (quicker)......................................... ................................6th............... ..............................3rd
    More In 50's.............................................. ............................................6th... ..........................................3rd
    More offence........................................... .............................................86ppg .........................................99ppg
    Forcing more turnovers......................................... .................................4th.............. ................................1st
    Punishing on Turnovers......................................... .................................8th.............. ................................1st
    Defence (Points against).......................................... ..............................79.5 (6th)....................................73.3 (1st)

    3. Mentioned the 2009 Superdraft

    Pick 6 Rohan
    Pick 14 Jetta
    Pick 38 Reid

    Pick 22 traded for Seaby
    Pick 28 traded for Mumford
    Pick 39 traded for Kennedy
    Pick 46 traded for McGlynn

    4. The Emergence of the Jet

    # 1 Goals for Swans and 5th Overall
    # 1 Inside 50's for Swans and top 5 or 8 for League
#1 Score involvement for Swans and top 10 for League.

Eade rated Parker very highly and said they were missing him being out and regarded Richards as an All Australian this year.

They then went and had a very quick look at the Weagles and how this weekend's game would tell alot about both teams.

Game will be live on Fox Footy into Melbourne.

They didn't talk about Longmire's coaching or any other tactics apart from saying that they now play an exciting brand of football.

Well have to go - Kartooch has finished with Rhonda and is warming my bed. Get out of the gutter, with an electric blanket !!!!!!!

Good work BRC - I saw it too and enjoyed the analysis..... You've summed it up well for those who didn't get to see it. Good to see some decent analysis on TV and for some of the experts to realise this is the exciting, dynamic Swans of 2012 and not the dour lockdown 2005'ers....

Great summary of a poor summary. Most of the stats king quoted follow each other.

You force more turnovers you get more inside 50's, you get more inside 50's you score more etc etc etc. king is not the guru they try and portray him as on fox. King is the tactical guru who continued to say Geelong were poor last year and could not possibly win a flag. Even refused to admit he was wrong after they did win.... Goose.

One point was valid, the fantastic recruiting done in 2009. Having said that blind Freddy could look at that list and say Kinnear did well. The hard part is picking them before they become stars

Kinnear should be on insider not King. Fortunately he works for us

It's been mentioned before but that really was a great trade/draft period for us.

Interesting to see what they traded for:

22 Gerrick Weedon (Claremont - WAFL) to West Coast - Played 1 game in 2011

28 Mitch Duncan (East Perth - WAFL) to Geelong - Going OK having racked up 42 games since the draft (I think I'd pick Mummy, if it came down to it)

39 Sam Grimley (Northern Knights - TAC Cup) to Hawthorn - Yet to play a game (For Kennedy? Chuckle)

46 Benjamin Stratton (East Perth - WAFL) to Hawthorn - Also going OK with 41 games in the bag

May the Gods give us such wisdom at the end of this season.

Excellent ... I look forward to Andrew Dimitriou describing the Swans as "a pretty team who will win many games if they continue with their current style of footy". But not holding my breath.

I doubt Andrew has seen a Swans game this year, like most of teh coaches, still planning on 200 stoppages a game

The old mate Kingy eh....Mr Hindsight. This bloke is so good as to what he spouts I am stunned that he isn't still coaching. As a matter of fact on his knowledge he should have a no.1 job. Still he can be entertaining at times.

He's not even in the country at the moment. Took 7 weeks off to go to the Olympics.

He was told by Adrian that he had too much accumulated leave. Do you really think that Andy runs the show.

Even if it all ammounts to nothing in the end, it's good to see some positive feedback from the media and a chance to watch our team get reviewed in a positive light.

I'm embracing it and enjoying it while it lasts.

The Jetta stats were illuminating for me - this kid has transformed our team.
