    Top Four

The Swans have already made the Eight. Thirteen wins is more than enough to do that. But what sides will share the top four. Here is a run down of the contenders and their remaining matches. This is in order of how they sit on the premiership ladder at the moment so don't get precious as to why the Swans are second.

    Hawthorn; Wins 13; Geelong (H), Port (H), Suns (H), Swans (A) & Eagles (H)

    Swans; Wins 13; Suns (A) Carlton (A), Collingwood (H), Doggies (A), Hawks (H) & Cats (A)

    Crows; Wins 13; Cats (A) , Essendon (H), Dockers (H), Lions (A), Demons(A) & Suns (H)

    Collingwood; Wins 12; GWS (A), Saints (H), Swans (A), North (H), Eagles (A) & Essendon (A)

    Eagles; Wins 11; Lions (H), Dockers (A), Cats (H), Port (A) Collingwood (H) & Hawks (A)

    Essendon; Wins 11; Crows (A), North (H), Carlton (H), Tigers (A) & Collingwood (H)

    Cats; Wins 10; Crows (H), Hawks (A), Eagles (A), Saints (H), Doggies (H) & Swans (H)

    North; Wins 9; Demons (H), Bullies (A), Essendon (A), Collingwood (A), Dockers (H) & GWS (A)

    Dockers; Wins 9; Port (A), Eagles (H), Crows (A), Tigers (H), North (A), Demons (H)

Of all sides above the Crows have the easiest run home with Lions, Demons & Suns and they could possibly get 6 wins.

I think the Cats are going to be lucky to make the eight unless they can start beating sides above them. They play all sides in the top four and I think it is going to be a big hill to climb.

What are your thoughts? I also think Essendon are going to find it hard too.

By the way I think in the run home the Swans could win all their games but I do think the Hawks are the hardest in the form they are in. The other sides all have been inconsistent but the Hawks are on a roll and very consistent. I believe we will break our Pies Hoodoo and can also beat Cats at the Cattery!

So, the side I worry over the most is Hawthorn!

I still think it is quite open. Probably for the four it is a race between: Pies, Hawks, Crows, Swans and maybe WC if they have enough luck, and I also think North might be in with a shot for the 4 if they can be consistent.

North have a pretty good run home and if they can manage to come to play against sides below them they are in with a chance. They need to bring their 'A' game against the likes of D's, Bullies, Dockers, Bombers & GWS. They virtually have to win all those games for a show.

Bombers & Cats both have very hard runs home and could be just making up the eight or they might get dumped out.

The Saints are knocking at the door one game adrift of the eight and the play; Bullies (H), Pies (A), Dees (H), Cats (A), GWS (H) & Blues (A). Bullies & Blues are virtually home games for the Saints so they could easily make the eight but not the four. That is why I didn't include them.

          Go Cats today.

It will be a top 4 bird special.

Cows, Hawks or Swans will be top 2. The home game against the Hawks will be a cracker. Lets hope Clarko punches a few holes in the wall. Perhaps enough frustration to demolish the rest of the stand.

It will be interesting to see how Big Ted goes on Buddy now. I think 6 goals to Buddy last time at SCG but a few thinks have changed since then.

Pies v Eagles game could come down to a top 4 decider for the two.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

Pies have two easier games GWS & Essendon (I think they have run their lot). Eagles have two Lions & Port but they also have the wood on the Dockers. So that one will be most interesting to watch. Pies have beaten the Crows who are top four but Tippett & Walker were both out that day and I think the Crows are a far better side now. But they don't play the Crows they play us Eagles & North who are in the eight. I am not convinced by the Pies I think the Hawks exposed them badly.

The Eagles need to get a few players back to be a top four chance.

Buddy is just one we have to shut down. The trouble with hawthorn is if you shut Buddy down, Roughy gets you. They have so many options, Hodge, Lewis, Gunston, Breust, Young, Suckling, Smith, Puopolo & Shiels. This is not even including Rioli and he is probably the most dangerous player they have as he will hurt you with his defensive work and then again on the offensive. The other player who controls most of the play from their backline is Burgoyne not to mention stopping Mitchell and Sewell in the middle. They are a very impressive unit and it will be a big mountain to climb come the day. We will have to be at our very best.

We beat Hawthorn in Tas for Goodes's 300th and we can beat them at the SCG for Bolton's 300th plus Hawthorn may not kick as accurately against the end where the stand is down. so long as we aren't laying catch up

Geelong will come home strong as their toughness and experience starts to tell. I would not want to be meeting them in September, nor relying on a win down there in Round 23 to stich up top 4 or top 2.

Correct it was Goodesy's record breaking game (his 304th) when we were the victors.

I saw Izzy at The Caltex Service Station at Kellyville today at about 1pm.

I thought he was a mormon at first as he had a very nice suit on and crisp white shirt. The GWS tie gave it away.
