I was sat right behind the goal posts, about 9 rows back! Fantastic seats. Getting out there is a pain as I am 10 minutes walk from SCG, but I don't mind as its only a few times a year. I wouldn't go to a GWS game there though, plain boring atm.

          WTF is a "neutral" venue?
Rubbish? We lose by 8 points to a very very good side who travels remarkably well. We have matched it with the top teams all year, how the @@@@ can you say its rubbish??? Neutral means a venue with no advantage to either team, which I believe homebush is for us, I suggest you get yourself a dictionary!

If we played well and stuck with the game plan that's been successful all year and we still get beat I guess you can point fingers at the venue being the difference. Fact is we didn't turn up with our A game and that has very little to do with the where we played. Don't get me wrong I want to play ALL home games at the SCG but I can't blame Homebush for this loss.

Agreed - I also blame bloody Colligwood for that loss. They really do have the wood on us at the moment....

Hard to know which is best?
Burt the food is far superior to the SCG. If you think Hoar & Plenty pies are good food then your taste buds must be dead. The fish & chips at SCG are always cold and any other food fairly yuk except the Lebanese food on the upper level near the Red Zone. At ANZ you have so much choice and can go out at half time and choose from about 25 different food stalls or stay in have something in the members bar or the stalls. I must admit the caters Hotdog is @@@@e. There are some issues in Red Zone at about 126 with viewing the game but there are some issues in all areas at SCG where the walkways meet the seats.

Coming from a Catering & Hospitality background the catering at SCG is 'CRAP'. I know that one thing I won't eat is food that has been heated and is left in a warmer and gerts cold. This happens at SCG all the time and it is a food poisoning danger.

You cant win games when u dont convert against the best and we created more opportunities by far. Not just shots on goal either. Wasted so many forward entries especially kicking to reid. Wish sam reid got delivery like we gave ben
It does hurt that we lost again to that mob of ferals, but there is plenty of glass half full from me.

We were wasteful last night in front of goal - something we've only been a few times this year. If a similar game pans out in the finals, I'd back us to not be so wasteful and thus win by a few kicks. The boys looked shattered at the end - they realised what a good opportunity was missed, but they will bounce back and bounce back hard. Imo we were the better team last night in almost every aspect of the game.

No need to be writing eulogies to our season like a few on here seem to be.... it is one loss. Losses happen, and good teams bounce back well from them as we will!

Bring on the Doggies, Dawks, Cats and whoever else might await!

I think a couple of the player and coach views are well balanced:

And thoughtful comment with a funny tail I didn't see on the TV:
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Wow its as if we got slaughtered, so your saying if the game was at the SCG it would not of made an 8 point difference? I think it is a concern that we have to play finals at a venue that doesn't seem to have an advantage. Regarding our play, I think we gave our all and it showed that we can take it right up to the best teams, even if we didn't bring our A game. I also blame the loss on Collingwood maybe just having a bit more class at the end.

As I've said before I want all games including finals to be played at the SCG but I disagree with the assertion that the performance last night was venue related. Our lack of spread and poor decision making plus the Pies class would have seen us beaten on every ground in the country.

The fact we only got beat by 8 points without Reid, Bolton and Goodes ;-) while not playing well can be seen as a positive. Once the disappointment wears off I'm sure I'll start to see that as well.

Was it just me, or did we appear to feel extremely pressured in our F50- even when there wasn't pressure there? How many times did a player get the ball in the F50 and instead of taking some initiative to take an extra step/break free to get clear enough to take a shot they'd just handball to someone else hoping they'd try it.

I'm not sure if had a niggle at all, but a couple of times Pyke looked absolutely, completely buggered out there and just couldn't run/didn't chase. I've not seen that from him before.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
