By the end of the game I felt utterly ill. I have so had it with losing to the hatefull magpies.

        How crap were we?
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

At this stage I couldn't bring myself to face them out there at Homebush in a final this year so I hope the cards fall in a different way (with us being on top though of course).

Thanks goodness for the members bar and real beer because I couldn't have stomached that result any other way.
Today's a draft of your epitaph

I thought our midfield and even moreso our backline were magnificent.

Sorry Annie but the crappiest thing I saw on the field was your beloved Adam Goodes.

In summary, this was a game like those we played earlier in the year, and lost.

There are two simple things to do to beat the swans.
                  1) Apply massive midfield pressure.
                  2) Spare man in defence.

By applying massive midfield pressure our midfield will still get lots of clearences, but they will be bombs into the forward line. Where upon the 3rd man up, or normal defenders can spoil/rebound out because we have a forward line that is not high on contested marks.

We need to combat this by better spread at the clearances (something not easy in slippery conditions), and manning up in attack (send a defender forward to take out the spare man).

After all this, its a game we should have won if we'd kicked straight. We were the better team.

So we have shown we can match it with the best in 2012, and the loss will be good because it might make the selection panel and players realise that some work needs to be done yet.

Cam Mooney said on TV last week, that they were always happy to lose a match close to the finals, to straighten them up.....maybe we can take some comfort from that?

He was the crappest of them all.
                      Obviously, I'm still not happy.

                        Well there is that.
Better to lose one in Aug, rather than Sep!!

Lost to Adelaide in round 18 of 05 and that season ended OK.

I agree with you Jewels. I thought we were pretty good just couldn't score goals, either OOF or Points. Yes and Goodsie was crap and I still believe injured, some like Micky O can play injured but not Goodsie as he is not used to being injured.

This. Spare man in defence has killed us. We only beat the Hawks cause Gibson was injured and they lost there spare man in defence

We'd be happy to give the Cats some help with that in R23. ;-)
