    Importance of Hawthorn match

Once they defeat the Suns, Hawks will be on 60 pts level with Collingwood and Adelaide.
With their percentage, should they win next week they will be ahead of us. And we would have to win in Geelong to finish top 2.

A win in either of the next 2 games is important or a must for a top 2 spot.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

If we beat Hawthorn top spot is as good as guaranteed due to big percentage gap over Adelaide and Wobblewood. Only the highly unlikely event we suffer a monstrous thrashing at Geelong would knock us off.

Yeh let's do it next week and not have the angst of having to beat Geelong again at the cattery to secure top two.

Finals are shaping nicely. How about WCE vs Freo and Roos vs Cats first week of the finals?

Swans vs Hawthorn first week would be nice too :-)

Having a look at the draw for the current top 4 over the next couple of weeks, provided we beat Hawthorn next week, and even if we lose to Geelong - we're likely to finish first (provided Adelaide don't blast the Demons and the Suns off the map) and probably face Collingwood in our Qualiffying Final, with the Crows hosting Hawthorn in theirs. That's my prediction.

A win next week most likely means first Qualifying final will be Syd v Collingwood at ANZ. We had one of those recently didn't we?

We certainly did - a practice run. We'll win the real thing.

Top four secured today. Minor premiership secured if we win next week. The first time we've played for the minor premiership since round 22, 1996. HUGE game.

                        The way I see it:
If we win both games, Top spot and we play the Pies in Sydney.
If we lose one to the Hawks, 2nd spot and we play Crows in Sydney.
If we lose one to the Cats, Top spot and we play the Pies in Sydney.
If we lose both, , 3rd spot and we play the Crows in Adelaide.

So we MUST beat the Hawks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is why today's game was a must win!!

If we do end up finishing 3rd or 4th I would rather play Crows in Adelaide than Hawks or Pies at the MCG. Better chance at AAMI Stadium IMO.

Dream results for us in the round just gone. Both of the 2 teams whose results we can't control in the final 2 rounds, unexpectedly lost. The only one who won, we take on this weekend. Hence we've suddenly moved from top 2 only being in our control if we won our last 3 games, to top spot being in our control if we win just one more game. Provided that game is this weekend.

You know for a first final, I'd rather play the crows(in Adelaide or Sydney) for a chance at locking in a prelim final in Sydney!!! I think we could knock them off quite easily.

The flip side is however we would need to knock off either Collingwood or Hawthorn in a Prelim to make it to the Grand final.

So, having said that, it'll probably be better to have to play either Collingwood or Hawthorn in the first week, get the win, and hopefully play Adelaide in Sydney in a prelim to get to the Granny.

This is all in a perfect world of course.
