Collingwood or Geelong I would be extremely pessimistic about facing in the GF. If the cats are able to make the GF they would no doubt be the form side of the competition given the back half of the year they've had. Ironically they can still mathematically miss the finals but they are in way too good a form to lose to the bulldogs.
Hawthorn, depends how we go this weekend.
Any other team and i'd rate our chances very highly, although a decent point is raised re: the kangaroos.Comment

Kangas got thrashed by the Hawks in Round 10. I can't see them beating the Hawks in a final. The Hawks will beat Crows even in Adelaide. The Hawks absolutely killed Adelaide early in the season at the G even though they were not playing that well at the time they brought their 'A' Game especially for the Crows. There is a great deal of hatred at Hawthorn over the first ever Crows game and the embarrassment of that defeat and the Hawks get very geed up Adelaide.
There are some real problems with your scenario. For a start I can't see a young Roos side beating the Cats. Secondly I think the side we really have to beat is Collingwood and if we can't we can't win the Premiership. They are our danger side and quite frankly I would prefer we don't met them in the finals this year. Next year yes but not now. It would be nice for them to end up on the Hawks side of the ledger and get tipped out in two. Frankly I would rather play Adelaide than Collingwood as we know we can beat them we just didn't earlier in the season because we just were short a few players. They are now back and we also have Pykie and they won't match up well on our big men.Last edited by wolftone57; 23 August 2012, 12:14 PM.Comment

Sure. The Roos have found some form but I think you could compare them to our finals campaigns of 2011 and 2010. Not quite up to it when the chips were down. They will probably have to play either Geelong or West Coast in week 1. My money would be on either of those teams irrespective of whether North are home or away. In the unlikely scenario (IMHO) that they get through to semi final week, any one of the top four sides should spank them.Comment

Roos thumped the Cats earlier in the year. Since that game, they've proven to be a very competitive side.
My scenario is just that, a scenario, so there's a bit of optimism involved and my views on how North will go reflects what I think is not out of the question.Captain, I am detecting large quantities of win in this sectorComment

Don't really have a preference as to who we play. I think we're good enough to beat anyone on our day and by the same token, we'll get our pants pulled down if we're a bit off as we really need everyone firing to be a flag chance.Bloods

Happy for the Roos to make it through to play us (Unlikely), they are overrated and will predictably be beaten easily once the finals begin.
This is not to say they haven't improved but they are still a while off being a 'finals' competitive teamComment

First final.. choice of Adelaide or Hawks (MCG), I'd take Adelaide in a shot. IMO Adelaide are tiring badly, and have the whole Tippet drama. Perfect team to meet first up. Should slot into 3rd with Pies loss now. So win or lose next week, we'll meet Adelaide either home or away. Good result.... in a way.Comment
