Our record v top 4 at home

    Lost to crows by 4
    Lost to pies by 8
    Lost to hawks by 7

All games we had match winning leads and were in it til the last 30 seconds.

Surely our luck will turn around in finals?

We've lead 18/21 times at 3 quarter time this year home and away. Today was the only top 8 team we've played anywhere we havent lead ar 3 qtr time all year yet we were up with 2 mins left.

Facts say we are anything but "kidding ourselves" for thinking we are a good chance of winning anywhere against anyone.

+4 it was no demolition which are the most heartbreaking matches to watch (Richmond, St Kilda). In it til the end, hopefully better next time

consider it a scarifice to the footy gods. Don't forget we won a GF by 4 points, helps to think about that when you lose a close one.

That was a square up from the qualifying final.

The following year the same thing..

So this year, they can have their wins from close home and away games. We'll take the close ones when they really count.

                      Correction:

                      Lost to hawks by 7
                      Didn't play Eagles

I bet Mick Malthouse can't believe that the Crows, Eagles, Swans and Hawks all deserve to be in the top 4. Year of the bird.
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

Malthouse- what does this actually mean- as pies are so good and WCE just beat them convincingly and as Swans do not deserve to be top 2 and hawks only just beat us. WCE to beat Hawks next week I am thinking. Come on SWANS beat cats and we can still finish minor premiers.

You'd think the home side would get over the line in these close games though.

One thing is for sure - the venue is irrelevant to the result.

This year we've lost to Adelaide and Hawthorn at the SCG, and the hoodoo against Collingwood rolls on at Homebush.

Same as last year - losing to Carlton, Geelong and Hawthorn at the SCG, and Collingwood at Homebush.

Agree with that. Over the same period we've beaten the Hawks in Launceston, the Eagles in Perth (twice) and Geelong at the Cattery. In each case, we're the only team to achieve any of these for a decent run of games at each venue. The travel factor probably makes a difference for younger teams, but the better, more experienced teams cope with it pretty well nowadays. Generally the better team on the day wins (or it is a close, roll-of-the-dice game where either would have been worthy of winning).
