Form is temporary. Class is permanent.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

I still do not see him reprising his old Superman form , but he sure stood up when it mattered.Easily Adam's best game since his return.

        He's back!
        Great timing.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

He just made the game his right from the start. He ran and walked tall and it looked like Adelaide was genuinely intimidated by him.
Sanderson said in his match summary that he took the game by the scruff of the neck and they as good as had no answer to him. Heaped praise on him.

Was the dominant player on the ground when the standard needed to be set. More importantly, took his chances and kicked straight when he often doesn't. Quieter second half notwithstanding, it was a colossal game from the big fella. In fact, probably his best game since he hurt himself against the Crows in the home and away.

It probably helped that he was up and down the ground, not stuck in the forward line - his strengths were utilised well by the coaching staff today.

It was awesome to see him lead the team with such quality and effort. Its damn hard to be a successful forward these days especially in our team. He was superb today.

Great players can also really pick their targets. Goodes obviously sensed that Adelaide's defence lacked big-match experience, and might have a bit of a soft edge to it. And in the first half, he ruthlessly exploited them. Before long, not just Adelaide's defence but all of Adelaide's 'bottom half' players looked rattled, and they never really recovered.

In that sense, even though there were players who racked up a lot more footy, laid a lot more tackles and were at the bottom of a lot more clinches, Adam Goodes was the #1 reason why we won today.

He is the ultimate epitomy of that saying mentioned at the start of the thread: form is temporary, class is permanent. Stood up to be counted and really did his job perfectly today. Cometh the hour, cometh the man!

If he pulls out two more performances like that this year, then it will take an almighty team playing against us to stop him adding 'dual Premiership player' to the long list of achievements across a glittering career.
