    Marty and Smithy

Ok everyone credits LRT. Brilliant game from marty and smithy. Cut off their talls at all costs, went in so hard. brilliant game from both lads.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Yep. Apart from one OOF , Mattner was rock solid.
Good to see that Smith was not dulled by a week off.
LRT did well , but Reg will be back of course - especially as the injury to poor Ben has created an extra place.

Outstanding games by both. And I forgave Marty his OOTF when the next minute he was marking, tackling and sending the ball forward accurately.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Smith was outstanding would luv to see him in our MF maybe bring in Armstrong for Ben and put Smith in MF. Best game Marty has played this season IMHO he has looked out of sorts last 4 weeks a great response.

          Cheers

Mattner was outstanding. Like to know how many toughes he had in that last quarter. He was everywhere.
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

Nick smith is the most underrated player in the league and so important to us does his job week in week out with little credit from those outside the club

It looked like Marty played loose man in defence but gee he was fantastic today. Smith was really important too.

Disagree with Dempster getting the AA nod as the only small defender....I think Smith is better (all the other AA nominee backmen play off their man....or spend the entire game trying to work the "+1")

Sad demo left, sadder still the real reason.

Both were outstanding. Marty was excellent last week too.

Couldn't agree more. At certain points in the year, I found myself whether Marty Mattner had lost it, and was on the downhill slide of his career. Rapt that I was wrong. He just read the ball so well it was like he had telepathic knowledge of where the Adelaide players were going to kick it.

Not just the cutting off of attacks, look at the impact Callinan (40 goals for the year) and the Porpoise had...none whatsoever. Primarily as defenders they needed to shut out those two, the third man up and mopping up was a bonus. Cracking games from all down back. Thought Eski won a few good one on ones and his physical stuff was at another level today, something he's not always good at.
