The award might be a little in jest but it is there to reward those backmen who may not shine on the stats sheet but are integral to their team week in week out. They should just rename it the Teddy award as his name is all over it already.....

I like the idea of a award for defenders but i cannot watch that show its a sad excuse of humor and is plain awkward to watch.

My missus thinks the same thing, but I'm with Wardy and Jewels, I reckon it's a great unwind on a Sunday night after the usual watching of 4 or 5 games over the weekend. Just good fun and they do come up with the occasional gem piece of footage.

Love it that they manage to get Gazey matching with the Australian flag in the back ground of the yesterday's herod challenges. It's not intelligent tv by any means but it's a bit of light releif which is missing on the teve these days.

It might be a bit of fun award, but Teddy doesn't take himself too seriously, he's up for it and will accept it with aplomb!!! It certainly helps that the 4 player under him aren't in the finals - And we all know that the "Golden Fist" is far more prestigious than the umpire bribing Brownlow!!!!! - a golden fist vote is worth 20 Brownlow votes afterall!! It will be well deserved. He's of a similar fun personality to that of Cameron Ling when he "won" the sexiest man in the AFL a few years back. Lingy thought it was hilarious and said "I know that this clearly a piss take but hey I'm never likely to get a real one or another one so yeah I'm wrapped!!" all good fun.
