    Birdy 14

Just thought i would mention Birds last month and a bit. He has been fantastic in my view. I haven't always been a fan but he has turned me. Wearing the 14 with all the respect it is due. Doesn't get a lot of fanfare or acclaim but goes about his job every week, which is always something different and he does it with aplomb.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him finish in the top 6-8 of the BF

Yep, he certainly doesn't get the kudos of many of the other players but he's a lot like Smithy - "A Quiet Achiever". I don't notice him much on the field watching a game live, but when I watch the replay, he does some wonderful things.
    He's had a marvelous season.

He's had a good season, but I can't see him finishing ahead of any of JPK, Ted, Jack, ROK or Macca.

Its funny with Craig he is kind of essential to the team balance and structure. He might be the Ben Matthews type that you can't place his niche but you just know he's somehow essential.

              Couldn't agree more.

His first quarter against the Hawks was just sensational, clearly BOG for that period. Very good last week against Adelaide as well.

His kicking sometimes lacks penetration, and he's not quick . . . . but he's done some outstanding jobs for us and not just recently. He made Hurn look ridiculous when we played Wet Toast

He'll be too slow on the MCG though. We need more outside run.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

It's not his speed that he's there for. He's the perfect link who gets it from the congestion and invariably gets it to the Swans player in the best position. And in that role he's been exceptional for a while now. If he is fit he'll be picked in our essential Top 10.

Jetta, ROK, Rohan, Ried, Richards, Hannebery, Jack, Kennedy, Mumford, Goodesy, hes definetly not in our essential 10. 10-15 maybe.

The good thing is that there's no need to argue - it's only a few weeks before we see how the coaches rate their various performance levels. He wasn't there last year but he's been much-improved:

                          1st Adam Goodes 615
Equal 2nd Rhyce Shaw and Josh Kennedy 573
                          4th Ryan O?Keefe 542
                          5th Ted Richards 523
                          6th Nick Smith 519
                          7th Daniel Hannebery 488
                          8th Shane Mumford 439
                          9th Ben McGlynn 411
                          10th Jarrad McVeigh 396

Not sure you could count Rohan as "essential" when he has barely played this year and we are playing in a PF.

Also, "best" is not the same as essential. Sam Reid is clearly our most essential player. Without him our forward line has been largely ineffective. Not necessarily our best though.

The team's playing in a PF, therefore anyone not playing in the team isn't essential?
Sounds a bit syllogistic to me. Leaving that aside, our forward line and our lack of leg speed are our greatest weeknesses, and Rohan would help (possibly even solve) both of those issues simultaneously.
