Longmire named coach of the year

Swans' Longmire wins coaches award - ABC Grandstand Sport - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

But it was the game style, as much as the results, that brought plaudits for Longmire's coaching.

He maintained the core of the hard-running, hard-tackling, defensive-minded style that had been the hallmark of the Swans under Roos, and added an extra attacking dimension.

Longmire introduced a more expansive style of play to make use of the blazing speed of Lewis Jetta and others, and used a range of scoring options from Sam Reid and Adam Goodes to converted defender Lewis Roberts-Thomson and midfielders Kieren Jack and Ben McGlynn.

Congratulations to Horse, well deserved accolade.
And on top of his seamless transition into the job; well done by the club.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

He's been a great coach. Seems very innovative and always progressing, which differs him from Roos. He's come a long way since naming Seaby as a sub!

A surprisingly articulate and well-written article by Carey on the Horse. Clearly, he adores the bloke too

I thought Sanderson would be a shoe-in for this one, taking a team from 14 to top 4. But good on them for recognising what Horse has done. He's certainly stepped out from PR's shadow!

I thought the same, but I think this is recognising Horse's work over two years, not just from getting one good year out of players that had under-performed previously.

Now come on aardvark, I've already put my hand up in another thread to say I was wrong about John and LRT, I don't think we need this type of negativity on here this week
