    Geisch true to form...

...defending the umpires deliberate call on Teddy.

Really? Clearly came off the boot wrong and on landing took a wicked off break as well.

The justification he gives is laughable...

The umpires were terrible. The 50 metres given against Pyke was ridiculous. Compare the time given to the hawthorn player in round 22 and the time given Pyke. He was in his kicking motion as the penalty was being paid. The umpires were trying to help Hawthorn seal the premiership and get the third goal in front. Just disgraceful. I have watched 20 years of football and you can tell when the umpires are assisting a team - and they were on Saturday.

I can't agree with the teddy call in my opinion he was clearly heading towards the line as for the Pyle 50 it was the right call the one in Sydney was wrong so we just have to accept it

Not quite sure what you are saying about the Richards one.
Can't recall the Pyke 50...but in all honesty 50 metre calls are mostly a joke & something needs to be done about it.

You are so right, I didn't notice that and just watched it again. Pyke kicked the ball before the umps paid the free kick. How about giving the player the opportunity to acknowledge the free kick.

The fact we call him The Geisch is worrying in itself. He should be not seen or heard. He should stay in his hole. The guy thinks he is a rock star. Reminds me of one of his little disciples that had a nickname as well.

This is one week where we can say "who gives a damn how bad the umpires were, we won, so stick that up yas!!!!"

                I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

they home crowd almost always provides 3 to 5 opportunities where the umpires let things go

some were amazing decisions in the GF when "in the backs" and or "ball" were not given to the Swans !

It's usually the non-calls and inconsistencies that grate. The main offender was number 9!

                    - Pyke is always stiff in one-on-one contests, arm being held and not called on GF day and throughou
                    - Savage deliberate out of bounds. Body was already facing the boundary and he proceeded to kick straight to it
                    - Holding the ball???? E.g. Kennedy pinged for picking up the ball then mobbed by 3 hawks, while Savage/Roughead play hot potato on the ground with each and that's a ball up???
"In some ways we?re less predictable to ourselves and sometimes that can be detrimental because we don?t really know where we?re going" - P.Roos

Most of the 50/50 call/non calls favoured the Hawks.

One that stood out to me was the spoil Hodge put on Bird near the boundary late in the 4th. Was a clear arm chop not paid.

But hey, we seemed to have the footy gods with us, (pushing the Hawks shots for goals just wide, or into the post), and they will clearly trump the umpies every time!

That one and the Mummy holding in the 3rd quarter - the defender was all over him, and it was a ball he absolutely would have marked. Could have been critical too, as it was right in the middle of the Hawks run and could have killed their momentum.

But who cares, the umps sucked, but we still won the flag!!!

To be fair to The Geisch (I can't believe I'm saying that!), he did actually come out and say that the ump got the call wrong with the one at the SCG and that it should have been 50.

I thought the Pyke one was tough but probably there.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

The 50 against Mitchell at least went some way towards making up for the 3 50m penalties given against Barry Hall in 2009

That was my reaction to. I've never forgotten or forgiven Mitchell for goading Barry that day. To see him throw the ball metres over the head of macca and be done for it was ever so pleasing
