    2012 Time Capsule.

Every year I keep the footy lift out from the Herald Sun.
Today I decided to review the tips.

First Article is called Hawk's Revenge. Heartache of Preliminary Final exit motivates Clarkson,Hodge.

    Sydney:
    Forecast 7th-8th.

    Players to Watch:
    Sam Reid
    Kieren Jack
    Heath Grundy
    Alex Johnson.

    Excitement plus: Gary Rohan.

    Other teams positions.
    Cats 2nd-3rd
    Pies 1st-2nd
    Hawks 1st-2nd
    Carlton 3rd-4th
    Saints 6th-8th
    Bombers 7th-8th

    Crystal Ball
Out of 18 "experts" 8 tipped Hawthorn to be premiers.
    7 tipped the pies.
    2 Carlton, and 1 Geelong.

13 tipped the swans to make the 8, NO ONE tipped them higher than 5th.

    taqbsportsbet:
Had Jobe Watson was equal 6th favourite for the Brownlow at $13

The swans were $1.75 to make the 8, $26 to win the premiership.
    Pies were $3.50
    Hawks and Cats $4.50
    Blues $9
    WC $13
    Saints $15
Even Freo $21 were higher than the swans.

Finally. Someone's found a reason to read the Hun.

    Nice work, Scott.

Aren't the RWO pre-predictions somewhere on this site? I think I boldly predicted Swans to go 3rd.

ANyone here put money on the Swans at$26?
The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news

        Probably.

        And No.

I had money on the Swans to win the GF, but I we went with the Dogs to win as well, and lost that.

I had $20 at $26 on the Swans to get the flag. Almost paid for my grand final weekend.

Looks like the Hun missed the Eagles, Dockers and Crows too. How many of them are from Victoria out of interest? :-)

LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Exactly this. Melbourne based journos end up believing their own copy.

I actually understand why Hawthorn are already set as favourites for next year but I don't get that we are paying twice as much AND are the same odds as West Coast.
I would have thought that maybe $5 for us would be more logical. It has always annoyed me that we were never given any respect as far as bookies go in 06 and I (stupidly) thought it would be different this time

Everytime they underestimate us we prove them wrong so I hope by the time 2013 starts we're 150 to 1 to go back to back.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Dermott Brereton has said on Melbourne radio that most of the Swans played well, most of the Hawks didn't, Hawthorn didn't kick accurately and still Hawthorn only lost by 10 points. Hence, Hawthorn lost the premiership - we didn't win it. Maybe the bookies believe that, too. What that theory doesn't take into account is that just maybe the Hawks didn't play well because they weren't allowed to!!!!

I also believe that the Hawks are false favourites because they were very lucky to make the Grand Final in the first place. In the preliminary final, Adelaide gifted Hawthorn 3 or 4 goals from terrible mistakes and the Hawks got the best of the umpiring - again - but only just fell in by 5 points!

Doesn't matter how we won it or how it's perceived by jealous Hawks fans , the record books will show:

Sydney Swans - 2012 AFL Premiers.

                              Everything else is just bull@@@@.
