    Rohan's progress.

    From what I've read previously from others with similar injuries we shouldn't expect much of him for at least another season, but good to see he is going well to return next year.

    Rohan's progress.

    I thought he was going to start running sooner than mentioned in that article. Perhaps his recovery is not going quite as we'll as hoped, or perhaps he was being overly optimistic previously.

      Way back he told us he was gonna be running October//looks like November now, but that will have him pretty ready for round one or two I'd say. (all going well, of course).

        There's nothing wrong with him.
        He did a two minute tap dance in front of me at the B&F; then said he's ready for pre-season training (then gave me a hug and kiss).
        What a happy little boy!!
        Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

          He told me he'd be back at the start of next season - "but maybe not for R1"

            My expectations for Gazza's 2013:
            * Limited pre-season
            * Delayed start to the year
            * Plenty of workload management
            * A number of NEAFL games to give him confidence and match fitness
            * Some sub appearances
            * Hopefully a decent run later in the season
            I am not expecting miracles from the kid next year - just to see him make it back on the park will be great.

                Agreed. If he is anything better than 75% of his output next year then it will be a win.

                  Walked towards the "G" with him and Jed Lamb and Eugene Krueger on Grand Final day and he was complaining about his leg after a very short distance...I joked that he couldn't use that as an excuse he'd only broken it!!!!! I walked on thinking that he hadn't walked far and it left me feeling a bit disappointed for him. I think a rosy picture is being painted.

                    Rohan's progress.

                    Michael Barlow, who broke his leg very badly too , said in an article recently he only recently started playing without pain. That was roughly two years after the injury. Also took about that long to play close to his best again. So Gazza may not be able to walk pain free for another 6 months or more, but it doesn't mean he won't be able to start running and building up fitness, and eventually full training and playing. He will have to live with the pain for quite a while,but it doesn't mean he isn't recovering.

                      He said the other day he will be running in early November so not long now. If something else has been said it is wrong because it came out of his mouth on Swans TV if I remember rightly.

                        If it played out like this I think everyone would be very pleased. I have nightmares (totally without substance) worrying that it might be a career ending break like the one that ended Jamie Lawson's time on the field.

                          I know Voss came back well from his same injury

                          the problem though is Voss just stood in the middle and handballed........very well mind u

                          Rohans possie is demanding and i know a few friends who have done similar injuries and it has taken 24months to feel normal.......and even then it can cause pain and not still 100% in physical sports

                            maybe playing off the halfback flank will be an option if the injury doesnt quite knit

                            it playing more forward and running off the ball rather then being the freak up front that is under so much pressure on angled runs etc

                              I think from what I have read there will always be issues with arthritis which I think is why the pain will remain. The one positive is he is young. The younger you are the better your body recovers. Fingers crossed. I guess that's all we can do (and pray a little to the Footy Gods). The rest is up to Gary and the powers of the Universe!
