Up late at night having a bit of a youtube session and i wanted to relive some of goodesy's highlights..I miss the old Goodesy...the quick bursting out of the pack, damaging Goodes. Obviously his older and spends most time up forward, he had a pretty injury ridden 2012. If he can have a massive pre-season which he will knowing the champ how vital will he be in us going back to back 2013? We certainly don't rely on him as much these days IMO.

This year he was instrumental to our functioning forward line. I was watching the 2005 grand final the other day, and he was instrumental in our midfield. He probably became a "gun" around 2003- ish. Thats 10 years of dominant match winning performances, not just 10 years of playing.
Quite amazing. -
He's definatly still one of the best in the compitition when he's fit, well, he's close to the best I've seen in my lifetime. He's still got it, watch the first 2 finals, best on ground against Adelaide IMO, and he was 2 or 3 straight kicks away from destroying Collingwood himself, he started very well in the grand final but then unfortunately got injured and somehow still had a huge impact on the game. My favorite player of all time and what makes him better, he's so professional on and off the field.Comment

I wonder whether we could make use of the substitute vest to extend the career of those veterans, like Goodes, that have significant "burst" capabilities but are getting too old to play the full 100 minutes*Comment

I think I'll cry when he retires. Such a magnificent football player and eminent human being. We are so lucky to have had him in red and white for so long.
He has this ability to garner the respect of everybody. My Dad loves him. My Mum loves him (and she doesn't follow football). I love him. My missus wishes she was 20 years younger. My kids love him.
Although so many non-Swan football fans also admire him, I have been amazed over the years at how many boos he draws from opposition fans on game day. What's that all about? What's not to like about him?
I remember one game in Melbourne a few years back (against Carlton I think) when he was loudly and roundly booed every time he touched the ball or laid a tackle (I think he had just got off a MRP referral and there was some media beat-up about him being a protected species).
There was a lot of booing (and I mean genuine vitriol) in the first quarter as he gathered about 15 disposals including a couple of goals plus three or four tackles. By half time, he had silenced them with his deeds. He was best on ground that day by a distance. No gloating to the crowd that was well and truly on his back. He just got on with the job.

We did.
Gawd I love him in a man-hug sort of way.Comment

I was there that day against Carlton.... the booing was insidious, but there was not a peep out of them by half time.
A classy player, a classy man, and he has given so many so much enjoyment! The word Legend is bandied around too much, but it applies so very aptly to A Goodes.
Lets just hope his career ends with him getting the chance to become a triple premiership player.... it would be the very least topping deserved on such a wonderful career!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Always give Kel's ball a rub on the way into the ground. Oh shut up, you know what I mean. I want to have a rubby polish on the sherrin by the time I retire from the grandstands. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment
