    TLM Countdown 2012, Rnds 22 - 23

Round 22: Sydney Swans (95) def by Hawthorn (102), SCG

Top of the ladder clash. Again. Swans win they secure top spot. Hawks win will send them to the top of the ladder.
In an astounding display the swans simply dominated the game, the Hawks struggled to get the ball and use it cleanly, whilst the swans got the score on the board, and kept the Hawks goalless for 36 minutes. 13 minutes into the 2nd term and the swans led by 38. The Hawks then banged on the next 6 goals with buddy Franklin finding some form with 3 of the goals. The swans hung on to lead by only 5 points at the break.
Fortunately the Hawks didn't have their kicking boots on (3.5) but still managed to lead by 4 points at the last change. Half way through the last term and the scores were level, it was then goal for goal. Burgoyne got the Hawks back in the lead with only a minute left. In a devastating moment at the centre bounce, the ball slips out of the pack to a charging Sewell on sprinted away and sank the hopes of all swans supporters by kicking truly.
Goodes, Mumford, O'Keefe and Reid all kicked 2 goals. Once again, Kennedy led the possession count with 35. And again O'Keefe led the tackle count with 12, and Smith had 10.

    Hawks by 7.

Round 23: Sydney Swans (78) def by Geelong Cats (112), SS

Jude back in the team after only a few weeks. Late Change of Armstrong in for Smith, and Tommy Walsh gets another chance, with Reid and Morton out.
Swans held on well in the first quarter going goal for goal with the cats. 3 goals to the Cats in the 2nd qtr had tehm on top by 9 points. Swans came out fired up in the 3rd term and turned the deficit into a lead in the first 10 minutes, before the Cats squashed their hopes with the last 5 goals of the term to open up a handy 25 point lead. 3 more goals made it 44 points. The swans toiled hard, but the Cats weren't going to lose another game at home to the Swans.
2 goals each ot Goodes and McVeigh. 32 posssessions to McVeigh. 9 tackles to the machine that is Ryan O'Keefe.

    Cats by 34.
