Yep, and he looked ok too..but don't be under any illusions. He did it tough and it was more than a jog, but nowhere near a full run..I'd say he did about 4 or 5 laps of Lakeside, prob about 2.55 or so per lap.
But very encouraging to see him out in the fresh air. And lots of encouragement from his mates too.He is ceretainly popular there.
BTW, he and Tommy Mitchell returned early for pre season last year..extra effort! -

awesome !
July onwards he might be ready for Ressies though - that would be approx 15months since the injury"be tough, only when it gets tough"

When I watched the video, I couldn't help but get the feel how flat he looked and sounded. It was obvious that he personally felt he was more advanced prior to his first jog outside. It's easier to get a feel of being more advanced if you are running on a treadmill or weight assisted treadmill. Hitting the harder outside turf and being out in the elements is a different scenario altogether. The video just showed me the ups and downs physically and mentally that Gary will continue to face. He'll get more confident and upbeat on the track and no doubt with good peoplearound him to support, encourage and not force the pace.
Interestingly, Nathan Brown (ex Bulldog/Tiger) soke to all the new AFL recruits at their open day. Nathan mentioned to them how quickly life can change for them (ie his infamous broken leg incident) and his regret of rushing back to play his ex Bulldog team mates before his body was ready. He believed it cost him an early exit to his career.Comment

Best article of the off season. The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

The 'middle months' of recovery can be a bit deceptive, and 12 months after my bad (but probably not as bad as GR's) leg break I still can't quite 100% cane it running (not that I was much of a runner before). But I reckon that Rohan can totally make it into the firsts in time for the 2013 season, albeit maybe ressies in June/July and pushing for selection three-quarters of the way through the year. As a club, when you're up the top, you need to improve to stay where you are, and if he can get up for it (and we make it!), Rohan's the most obvious source of improvement for us in the 2013 finals series.Comment

For some reason I was thinking about improvement from within (and national draftees) when I wrote that, not mature recruits (i.e. not Tippett), but even on reflection I think you can make a respectable case that Gary Rohan in full flight, adds more to the Swans lineup that Kurt Tippett at his best.Comment

Rohan running again.
That's true, but I doubt Rohan will be in full flight by next years finals series, these leg breaks normally put a player back a couple of seasons. 2014 will hopefully be the year he announces himself as a bonfire star.Comment

It would be fair to say 'Tippett at his best' was on show in the PF and Gazza has a mountain to climb before he reaches as dominating performance as that...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment
