    Advice please!

Am travelling from Melbourne to the SCG for the April 6 Round 2 game to see the unfurling of the Premiership flag. Don't want to miss out on seats and am worried that, because of the reduced capacity of the ground, seats may go quickly. Have contacted both the club and the appropriate ticketing agency to find out when tickets would go on sale but both could only give me a rough estimate of a date when tickets would be available. Would be very grateful for any hints or ideas of how to make sure I don't miss out!

    Advice please!

If you're a member they'll send out an email detailing when tickets are available.

You'll be entitled to pre-release tickets as a member as well so you should get tickets. As it's v Gold Coast, I highly doubt it'll sell out.

Sandridge, even though they'll probably be available, I certainly wouldn't be relying on buying a walkup ticket, but you'll have no trouble securing seats for weeks after they go on sale, so just keep an eye out once a week and you'll have no worries. You certainly shouldn't be stressing about missing out, you'll be fine.

We've had, what, 2 sellouts in the last 10 years?

You'll be fine as long as you purchase in the first couple of weeks after it goes on sale - keep an eye on the club website / ticketmaster / ticketek. Hell, first 4-6 weeks after it goes on sale will probably also be ok.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

The sold out sign was up regularly last year with the redevelopment.

This details that there were only a handful of sold out games (from recollection, Hawthorn and Geelong sold out. It looks like Adelaide definitely got close, and St Kilda almost did too!). It's only GC, no-one is gonna expect a cracking game for the unfurling.

Many games exhausted the GA allocation, but very few were actual sellouts. If you were prepared to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a premium seat, you could be accommodated.

On the GC game, I hope we put up a better performance than we did when we unfurled the flag against Port in 2006. Depressing.

Thanks all for the hints and advice. I know the Suns aren't a huge drawcard but it is a special occasion and when I rang the club, I was told that the ground capacity would still be significantly reduced. Will do all of the things you've suggested to ensure seats and, yes Triple B, let's hope the result is better than when we last unfurled a flag! Go Bloods!!

Worst performance of the year, and after losing to Essendon the week before I was fearful that we might be heading for a significant premiership hangover.
