    shane biggs

    Shane Biggs - SYDNEYSWANS.com.au

could Shane become a genuine HBF ??

he appears to be level jumping in pre season and he is fast and approx 188cm which is surprising..........I also noticed him manning up in drills as the defender

The wing and forward flank possies are filling up very quickly for the next few years with the likes of Jetta, Hannes, Morton, Lambie, Rohan and maybe Towers etc

obviously Mal, Shaw and Mattner have all been very important players for us in recent years and will be tough to replace but they provide opportunities for some very athletic young players

    Mal - 29yrs of age in 2013
    Shaw - 32yrs of age in 2013
Mattner - 31 yrs of age in 2013

Mal - Armstrong is a very similar player to Mal in playmaking and delivery on the kick.........I was also very impressed with what I saw of the Marsh Video hi-lights.......a real HB defender in the contest and quality delivery

Shaw - Cunningham - said in an interview that he is being developed into a run and carry backline player so the standout player to replace is Reece Shaw. Matthew Dick or Towers wouldnt be far behind in run and carry but they have nothing on Harrys kick.

Mattner - Shane Biggs, Marsh, Lockyear, Alex Brown, Incy, Rampe ?

He played quite a bit in the mids for the Twos last year but came as a half back/winger. He played all the preseason games on the Half Backline. He is pretty illusive and doesn't seem to move at all but has run 30 metres which says he has a pretty smooth running style. His delivery is generally VERY good and he can kick a very long goal on the run. Maybe one of the replacements for one of the half backs. You are right about the mids being hot competition with Mitchell, Parker, Kennedy, Jack, Benny, Lambchop, Rampe, Hannas, Jetts & Towers to take over from Bolts, Ryano & Goodsie when they retire. In a way we will be losing brilliant players and replacing them with a different type of hard, tough, skilled and fast player who can mark in the contest. they don't play their footy the same but they commit to the same philosophy.

By the way we are building for the future, for the time when there are no Goodes, Bolts, Shaw, Ryano, LRT, Marty etc.

Turn it up Gerry. Hanners as a wing or half foward! You have to be gagging. Deadset midfielder.
