Finally, a journalist works out that the Swans face a tough road to defend their flag. One week ago this would've been right on the money. After Freo's surprise loss to the Tigers the odds have shifted to Sydney. We can now afford to drop a game, even if the Dockers win every remaining match.

Swans in doubt for top four

Whilst freo's remaining games are all winnable, I'd be surprised if they didn't drop a game or 2 in the next 6.

But then we could be the first team to win from outside the 4.

Rohan Connolly article, nuff sed. He's able to devote a whole column to who will win the battle for 4th/5th out of Freo and Sydney and not once mention the possibility that his beloved Bombers could be the ones to find the going a bit tough in the next few weeks?

Irrespective of ASADA or AFL findings, if they get beaten tomorrow night, which is more likely than not, they are in a full on dogfight to hang onto a top 4 spot themselves...

Unless you pick 9 winners every week, those long-term predictions are ridiculous. Who had Geelong losing to Brisbane and Adelaide? Who had Port Adelaide knocking us off?

The competition is far too unpredictable to accurately tip 6 weeks' worth of results.

Matty Lloyd has written another piece in praise of the Swans. A quite interesting analysis of Sydney's game style and how to stop it.

Also, you have to love an Essendon guy who can't resist a pharamacological metaphor:

If only putting a winning football team together was this easy - you walk into a pharmacy, hand your script to the chemist and you get all the ingredients that make up the Sydney Swans.

Is it a worry that a former Essendon player is using a pharmacy and scripts as an analogy for a football team??

A bit surprising we arent waiting for Ben Reid to return as well.

Tippett starts to tip scales in Swans' favour

While McCartney hopes to get captain Matthew Boyd back to face the Blues, Longmire will be patient with Adam Goodes, Sam Reid and Leroy Jetta as September looms.

Nice one IF,but the full story is even more hilarious/stupid.
The print edition had Neville Jetta. Looks as though someone told Hanlon it was wrong so he has "fixed" it! The bloke needs to get out of Melbourne more often.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I believe this is an interview with Adam Goodes done on Sunday evening :

I love the conclusion of this article by Wayne Carey. Could you imagine the apoplectic reaction from the Melbourne media and loud-mouth clubs such as Hawthorn and Collingwood if this came to pass?!?!?

                          Sydney should start celebrating

Mike Pyke will know he's finally made it as an AFL footballer when someone writes an article about him that doesn't include the words 'rugby' or 'Canadian'. I suspect he still has some time to wait. But Jack has finally achieved the unachievable by being the subject of an article bereft of the name 'Garry'.

Numbers add up to make Jack the Swans' elite role model

At current rate of progress, 'brother of' will soon replace 'son of'.
