I doubt that. Maybe he just feels that a captain needs to give "their all" and his all is just a little less than it was, post-injury. Or perhaps it's just the right time for Jack to start the ascension to team leader; I think we can all see him as sole captain one day, if they choose to return to that arrangement.

Good on them both. March 30 can't come soon enough!

It appears that when a player gets older and probably only 1 or 2 years left they need to become my selfish. They need more care in preparation and managing their body for the riggers of a hard game. It makes sense to me especially to get the most enjoyment out of a great player, and Goodes is certainly that!!

What's selfish about Adam, aged 34, getting his succession in place while he can still guide the mob and actively contribute to the leadership group as a mentor?

So now we have themes song about taking drugs....("Captain Jack" = Smack = Heroin....for those who don't know the song)

And while we're on Billy Joel.....the single greatest moment I have ever experienced in the arts (and there have been some great ones) was at the SCG Elton John/Billy Joel concert when ALL the lights and sound when out simultaneously in the middle of the song....and 65,000 people sang "Sing us a song, you're the piano man!" in the dark. OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that's SSSwan's point - at Goodsey's age he needs to devote more time to his own preparation and also in mentoring the youngsters, without the added burden of all the other stuff captaincy entails.....

That's what it's about - succession plan, continuity like Roos to Longmire. That seemed to work OK. And Goodesy is still an onfield leader - best of both worlds.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

What a major non event. How boring.

I was standing outside Sharp Park with Danny Weidler this afternoon and he said that the reel scoop was that Adam is so worried about turning up at the Brownlow on his own again that he needs all the time to focus on finding a wag.

I suggested to the Club a few weeks ago that they run a "Go to the Brownlow with Adam" competition. Find a worthy cause, sell the tickets for $50 each between Rounds 1 to 23 and they would make tens of thousands of dollars.

It would fix Adams dateless problem, raise lots of money for a charity or cause and lots of positive promotion for Adam and the Club.

I can imagine Primmy, Wardy or Jewels gracefully stepping onto the Brownlow red carpet with Adam. If I win, I'll wear a backless number split to the thigh.

Imagine the red carpet interview - How do you like your men? LIke my coffee darhling.........................

The Club has been silent in their response. Lets all email in and demand it be done !!!!!
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.
