I had whooping cough at the start of 2009. Forget anyone complaining about having a cold or flu. That was the real deal when you're struggling to take a breath.
Good news, in case you didn't know. Just because you had it doesn't mean that you become immune to it. You can get it again.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
Add a head cold to the mix, and the coughing was exponentially worse than the previous every 10-15 minutes.
Last night:
Grubby was the host as usual.
They showed a highlights package as usual.
Richard Colless spoke. Never heard him speak before. A very quiet and reserved man. Not what I expected from the comments I see in the media.
Spoke about how well the club is going, on and off the field. We're only one bad season away from financial disaster.
Andrew Ireland: He spoke about the new kids, What a great group of people they are, as well as talented footy players.
Rohan has a rod in his leg, and is doing what training he can. Rod comes at at years end. We may not see him till next year.
Tippett is a great bloke as well. Was painted in a bad light by the Crows and the media. Thought he was hard done by, by the AFL.
Arguing with the SCG trust over compensation for the redevelopment, loss of seating.
We turn over about $40mil. as opposed to NRL clubs that turn over about $20M.
But clubs like WC and Pies turn over $60-$70M so it is hard to compete.
Membership is looking great.
Dennis Carroll. He is a great speaker.
Spoke about the new kids as well. Great group.
Great to see 2 NSW boys and from the same Junior club, Pennant Hills, as Captains.
We used to be in the top quartile for footy dept's environments, but have slipped back into the back, so they are looking at lifting that.
They showed the AFL 360 footage. Cheers and Cheers, followed by a rendition of Cheer Cheer!!
Venue: Rivers Edge (across the river from Crown/Jeffs Shed) Very small. Great view over the river.
Well set out with 3 bars, and 3 screens.
People I spoke to all knew people who didn't get an invite, who should have. Not sure what is going on.
Was 9 off the door prize, and 3 off 3rd prize in the raffle. Maybe next year.
Bring on Round 1!!!!!Comment

So you have to have been a member for 5 years AND be over 18.
I forgot to mention about AJ. He is booked in to have his surgery on Monday. LARS or Not LARS.
He still hasn't decided, but Dr Gibbs has gone through all the pros and cons with him and he is at home with his parents mulling it over.
Although, Ireland did speak highly of all the LARS benfits, less intrusive, and that non LARS is no guarantee. see Moribito etc.
Also Luke Ball is having hamstring issues, as this is where they take the tendon from for the knee.
I remember Luke Darcy had massive hamstring issues after his knee reco.Comment

Thanks Scott - we didn't get an invite either, but probably couldn't have gone anyway. Sounds like a great night.
I'm impressed with our off-field leadership. Richard C has gone public about his battle with depression but remains a fine leader, seems to choose his fights with some care and gets attention when he does speak. We benefit from their time in their positions, the detail they command and their capacity to keep their eye on the big picture at the same time.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team.
