Agree. It looks like the umpires are always trying to 'educate' Mike, regardless of how law-abiding he is.
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

I think he gets better every game he plays.

It is a tremendous advantage to be able to give Mummy a quality rest during a game or let one of them drift forward and cause havoc for the opposition matchups !

He would get a game at virtually every other club if they could poach him.

Our favourite Canadian is third in the league for contested marks.

Lance Franklin, Tom Hawkins and Jack Riewoldt all have something in common other than being glamour forwards ? they are all behind Mike Pyke for contested marks this year

I wish players would stop coming behind him asking for handballs after he marks. How is he supposed to get better at kicking in general play when players always want to get the handball, often when there's no real advantage.

Couldn't agree more. If he gets a mark and then looks for a handball target and can't find one, he always seems to me to have a look that says "oh well, I guess I'll have to kick it now". He's not that bad a kick. Horse, please tell him his first thought should be to have a kick. Handball only if it really is to advantage.

I was all aboard the Pyke bandwagon from day one because I shared an office with a footy-mad Canadian and I love the "unco" players. The ones that put your heart in your mouth when they get the ball. The underdog you can cheer for when they do the slightest good thing. LRT used to be my man, then he got too good. Then Pyke but now he is too reliable to fit that slot. Who will be our next unlikely hero?
