I'm sure the fact that Posh has made squillions with little or no talent means she gets the last laugh...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Yeah, that is the Spanish pronunciation. I was just observing that if pronouncing an exotic continental name correctly is too difficult for us unwashed colonials, you can usually fall back on the Anglicised version without too much trouble. I don't think the kid is going to have a difficult life.Comment

Re: Mike Pyke's Pykelet
Not quite, G followed by E or I is pronounced the same as a J or the X in Mexico.
So it's hor-hay. But really the H and R are different to English anyway.

'Hor-Gay' would be character building in a Johnny Cash kind of way.The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

I never got Ali G until someone told me to think of him in the same way as Gary McDonald's Norman Gunston character (which I loved all those years ago). From then on I appreciated Sacha Baron Cohen's piss-takes a great deal.Comment

Sits somewhere between an H and a G, really. Like a guttural sound. Probably close enough to Hor-Gay for the playground. But considering this kid is likely to be 6 foot at 10 years old, not a drama.Comment

Update on the Pykelets name. Florencia confirmed, it is spelt Jorge but pronounced George. Jorges (George) Pyke. He has boys paws too. .....Last edited by Primmy; 30 March 2013, 08:32 AM.If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment
