He started playing some reserves games part way through his first season on the list, when school holidays arrived. His first game was out at ANZ and I didn't have huge expectations, given he was just a very young lad, not training full time with the squad. His first quarter was very iffy - he looked a bit lost out there, and when he did get the ball, he rushed things. It took him exactly one quarter of football to adjust because after the first break he came out and was in total command. Ran into the right places, got heaps of ball, and barely made a mistake with his disposal.

He then continued playing with the reserves even when school holidays had finished and he was back down in Melbourne. He'd travel up to Sydney, train one day with them, and then play at the weekend. And, as we all know, by the last month or so of the season, the coaches couldn't find any reasons not to play him in the senior team.

It's a great story - talk about birth of a legend!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

When a guy looks like a class above, it shines thru whether his team is winning or losing (or being totally pumped). That's what it was like that day.

Strangely enough, for the life of me I cannot remember that thumping at all?

Excellent news. I think there's very little doubt that he'll be next into the captaincy when Macca passes the torch.

Thanks to whoever (or is that 'whomever') it was that corrected the spelling of the title of this thread too.

Great news! Was a bit worried when he had a touch of the 2nd year blues in 2011, but his true class showed through all last year.

Watching him agains the Suns last week and I started to wonder...is he now our toughest player? Parker is up there and Jude is the standard, but for sheer courage acts I think he can hold his own.

By the time he's captain I will have the spelling down pat.

I love how when he is about to kick the ball his tongue pokes out.. For someone so young a truly inspirational leader.. With Maca and Kizza being so young will we go back to 3 captains I wonder..

Put simply, the best young player I've seen at the Swans in 20 years. And no offence to ROK but how he didn't want the Norm Smith I'll never know.

Brilliant news!! Love watching Hannas play. Thought when Gold coast was in the game early him and Macca where the two to stand up! 100% Captain material.
