Assuming recovery session involves 9 of the 22 who played firsts. Then its 22 choose 9, and then 9 factorial ways to arrange them left to right.

Wolfram Alpha suggests that's 180,503,769,600 permutations. Should beat the Tippet thread easily.

If we include the 22 in the firsts and the 16 in the reserves, then we have 38 players to choose from. The formula for this is:

n P r = n! / (n-r)! with n = 38 and r = 9

which comes to 5.91536639e+13 or 59,153,663,900,000. So if everyone in the world logged on to RWO and each had about 8,500 cracks at who the players are, without duplication, we should just about be there, which should get us pretty close the the length of the Tippett thread.
